I know many of you have seen this on the board in the shop.

Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday rent the lake for $750 for the day plus fees. $50 per boat, or whoever wants the course pays $10 more, etc. Details could be worked out later.

How about 15 boats tops and we throw an end of season shindig? First come, first serve of course. No organization unless we decide to have a little contest funride of our own.

SV Riders anyone of you have any interest in doing this type of rental of the lake?

For entertainment purposes only, I will make myself available ... As long as my work schedule allows it.

Let's not forget that some of us were planning the same thing for the "WakeSports Unlimited Employee of the Month," birthday bash. However, we were looking somewheres around the end of September. Maybe we can do it all on the same day??? That'd make better sense, cost wise.

Glen,

Give me a call, we should definitely start planning this ASAP... I can think of about 5-6 boats, from our regular crew, that'd be interested... As long as we gave them plenty of notice. We've been talking about doing this for a while, there are several interested.

I'll contribute beer, foul language, crappy riding, brief nudity(maybe a butt crack here and there), Crappy Music, and Ballast(My fat @ss)...oh and I can pitch in some money...

Now all sarcasm aside, that sounds like a pretty cool plan...definitely keep me in the loop.

Weekday only. Only core people who will dump work are invited anyway. jk
I put it in the events section so everyone can join in. Let's say max 15 boats, do you agree? Let's see Sunday was 100, so 15 will be nice on a Wednesday. I'll through a date out of Sept 14th or the 21st may even work. So we'll see what everyone says.

Dan your in if you bring the band and play at a beach. jk see you out there.

Old    akman            08-24-2005, 6:16 PM Reply
You guys may want to look into this a little more, not trying to rain on the parade but from what I understand you have to rent the lake for the entire day PLUS you still have to pay the boat fee's to launch, the per person fee to use the lake and possibly the cost of the Ranger for the day.

From what I understand you can only do it on a day the lake is CLOSED so Wednesday may be out if that is a day the lake is open to fishing.

I would do a little homework.........FYI.
Old     (slipknot)      Join Date: Aug 2001       08-24-2005, 6:22 PM Reply
$750 plus fees to launch which will include your so called per person fees plus your boat fees. And it is Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, ie the lake is not open those days so grab your crew and bring your $ if you want to come out and play.

San Vicente is open on its summer schedule (May through October). Thursday and Friday the lake is open for both fishing and water contact (water-skiing, wakeboarding, towing inflatables, etc.)
Old    akman            08-24-2005, 8:37 PM Reply
Right off the San Vicente website......

Schedule and Boating Info

San Vicente is open year-round, sunrise to sunset under an alternating recreational schedule. From May through October, water contact (skiing, wakeboarding, etc.) is allowed Thursday through Sunday, while fishing is permitted on Wednesday and Thursday only}. From November through April, fishing is allowed on Thursday through Sunday, while water contact is permitted on Thursday and Friday only.

So what you are saying is for 15 boats to get on the lake it will cost:

$750 just to rent the lake PLUS another $20 per boat since you cannot launch and wakeboard with only 2 in the boat (math: 3 people at $5.00 and 1 boat at $5.00 bringing the grand total to $20.00) so in reality it is $70.00 per boat.....or $1050.00 split between 15 boats and at a minimum 45 people.

Pretty sure you have to have 1 and maybe 2 Rangers in the mix so add to that their fee's for an 8 hour day and that total just went over $1,500 for the day plus gas/food or $100.00 a boat or $33.00 and change per person, if you want it for more than 8 hours then add more for overtime wages.

Good luck!

Gramps,
I thought you said you weren't trying to rain on our parade !!! Just kidding man, thanks for bringing all that up. We'll definitely have to talk to the rangers, and see what exactly is involved, or needed, to do such a thing.

So I take it that you have looked into doing this already? Thanks for clearing that up for us. So we can shoot for Tuesday. Now when I call I have all my questions to ask. You also forgot you have to add a $1m liabilty to your insurance for the day, so add that into your total. Also $85 to fill the boat with gas. We'll be having fun no matter what the cost. I don't really put a price on wakeboarding these days. You're going to do it anyway. So why really worry about the cost of sharing the lake with 10-15 boats on a weekday to throw a party and ride. Oh and we will be bbqing, I may bust out the Frogmore Stew.

AKi, you should come out, it will be fun. Maybe you can drink a beer and wakeboard.

I believe it's Rangers included as well.

9 spots left if we are going to attempt to pull this off.

Me
Jessica Day
Buzz
Todd V.
Clubmyke
Tyler

Should we add the striking python and GEEEoofff's boat to the list?

Aki? Dave W? Any others? Will we even be able to get the 15? It would not suprise me if we didn't.

I'll get the estimate of expense soon enough to compare against Gramps estimate to see if he is legit. jk I know you estimate is legit. I just hope everyone can swing it.

We could always get it down to 10 boats???

Hmmm...I might be out if it happens in Sept . I am flying to Miami for 5 days next week, and then I have family coming to town the week of the 19-23rd. But, if you guys do it in October. I could possibly make it work. Keep me in the loop.

Update...

I have the form to send it for approval.

Fee is $750 plus launch fees, etc. No charge for staff.

Wednesday there is no fishing so that day is possible.

Insurance? They are checking into that. Each individual owner may be able to add a $1m liability wiaver for the day, they are not sure yet, she is checking on it.

More later

I wouldn't think you would need insurance. I don't need special insurance when I go on a Thursday.

Anyway, I'd be up for it, but it would depend on the date. I've got a pretty busy September and early October lined up, so let me know when you get that settled.
Old     (slipknot)      Join Date: Aug 2001       08-25-2005, 10:59 AM Reply
There is a special insurance requirement since the lake is closed so to say. Groups have rented it in the past like OTE for the owners group and Bass Clubs who rent it, they have this so called $1m liability waiver.

So we'll see what they say.

I am shooting for September 14th or September 21st. Anyone else have any special requests if you can make it?

6-8 spots left if DW makes it.

This insurance thing may rain on the our parade if anything does.

Confirm this is for the whole lake, and not a section of it or just the courses? I'm from Bakersfield, so I wanna confirm, cuz my cost to just GET there with my ride would be bigga-moungus.......

Bakersfield's allowed right?

I am guessing, without even checking with my regulars, that I will fill up fast, but just in case you really don't want to haul you boat all the way down here, I should be able to squeeze you in bud! Had a blast last time, but it was probably only because Lucy came with you! j/k

---Whats up with the insurance situation/costs for it???---

My insurance guy said lakes want to be listed as insured, so probably need one group policy. Mine can't do individual coverage policy with them listed, but may need to have 300,000 coverage to be on blanket policy like bass tourneys ...

October dates MIGHT conflict with a 4 day quad trip, but the group hasn't confirmed a date for sure....

need the insurance info prior to confirming attendance or not, for both dates....

5-6 ft deep is plenty for a v drive boat weighted down but the lake is 8-10 ft deep and great for wakeboarding. just a Idea!!!!!

Just wondering if there was an official date yet. I need to know what day to fly out. Does anyone know?

It looks a lot like the 21st is winning. At least 5 votes for 21st, 1 for the 14th, 1 for October 12, 2 who don't care, and 3 who think Geoff is either cool or awesome.

So, does everyone agree on that? Is the 21st official?

Hairbandude,

The other day I was at the lake and got a name and number of the person who has the details on insurance, and who you make the reservations with. Sorry, it is in my car, and I can't get to it right now. Call me later, after 9:30P and I can get it to you. (619) 261-1181.

City lakes supervisor to get back to me. Not sure if everyone adds a $1m liability for that day will cover their requirements.

List is as follows:

Myself
Todd V.
Buzz G.
Rachel C.
Dane Penick ?
Jessica Day
TSO Tyler
Club Joe?

Eight boats so far.

I dont think Dave W. can make it. As it is Sept. his busy time.

Aki will probably not show, Geoff not sure, he may not have a boat by then. I am not sure if he sold it yet.

We need a few more boats like 3-4 to make it work.

As soon as I hear back from SD I will let everyone one know.

I don't think I'll be in any condition to hook up a boat all by my lonesome. However, the stubborn girl in me will not let me miss this day. I should know within the next three days exactly when it is going down. It would be nice to know about the insurance thing and exactly what day this IS going to happen.

We are not an organization as the sheet states. This may be the only thing that stops this event from happening. An umbrella that would cover all of us under one policy may be what they want so we'll see what happens. I spoke to Sharon Smith at SD City and she is going to have someone get back to me on this.

I will keep everyone posted.

Have you asked if each boat can have their own 1m policy? It seems that would be easier.

that is what they want. it is alot easier. Now everyone just has to call their insurers and get quotes for it. So we will see what happens.

Slipnot, its easier if you just add the inurance for good. It doesnt cost that much more. We have 1/2 million to use the channel at Elsinore.
Like Troy said, just a phone call away for the 1 day event.

Hey just wanted to inform you a good friend of mine said that he was informed by OTEW that they would be willing to help with the insurance and if not them then he could pull the insurance coverage himself. Let us know if that is what it comes down to.
