I have a regular trailer, its older 1988, has anyone done a conversion to a swing away tongue?? I am planning on buying one from overtons but wasn't sure how hard it would be to do. Thanks for your input

This is the swing away that i am looking at, seems like a very simple install, i have metal brake lines though, would i be able to replace those with a synthetic brake line that bends with the swing away system????

if you have surge brakes, you also need to figure out how to stop it!

I think it's the Pivit Hitch that is the kit for trailers with surge brakes.

Looks like their remodeling now.

Seems like they were bought out by Extreme Trailers. The Extreme site shows the Pivit Hitch on their Options page now:

Can this be done to a 2004 dual axle Dorsey trailer? I can't get the pics to download on here (it is for a 2004 SANTE). Thanks.

Visit the websites listed above & ask the vendor. Should not be a problem.

what is so much better about pivit hitch? it costs $259 compared to $129 + $15 for a rubber brake line......

I would spend the extra money and get something better. The pivit hitch are nice and if i recall the ones from overtons are not that well built.

so that was pretty vague. What is better about the pivit?? I just dont think that the overtons one could be built bad and still sell.

Moxilla - the guy with the pictures above has a Fulton and he stated it works great so what else do you need. Spend less and get what you need.

The cost may depend on what you are towing a single axle trailer with a 2500# DD MC on a trailer with out brakes is different than a tandem axle w/ brakes carrying a 4000# v-drive san. Play it safe you never know what will happen and who will be behind you.
I had a 1 sack cement mixer come unhooked from my truck because the guy said that the small hitch he put on was good enough! Wrong I was doing 55 on the FWY and the chain was the only thing stopping disaster.

Moxilla thats not paint - it is powdercoat, much cheaper to have done and its a lot more durable.
