I am just wondering if anyone out there name their wakeboard boats? (actually put lettering on the back to name it) Is there a length requirement to realistically name your boat? (and not seem like a douche) If you have named your boat, What type of boat and what name did you used? I figure that maybe I can start up something a little fun since nobody has added to the BOAT BUN THREAD lately and it seems to have died and work is a little slow today.

If you have to ask yourself "am I going to be a douche if I do this" then the safe answer is don't do it.

I figured that is what the responses would be, but I am sure there are people out there that named their Wake boat...gotta be... Though, I am not sure they would say anything on this thread given the responses so far...

Wow, pretty harsh guys! Joe, you just don't see it much with wake boats, but there are a few out there. I've always kind of thought that was more of a yacht thing.

Ever seen one of these hanging from the back of a truck? I have that hanging from my rudder, with the lettering "Stugots" on the back of the boat. Ya it's pretty sweet. (Message edited by taft on November 05, 2009)

David, I do think of boats with names as being one of two types of boats. Yachts - So they can say welcome to 'xxxxxxxx' like it is a small city on the water or something. Fishing Boats - So the news reporter can just simply say 'xxxxxxx' sank off the Coast this morning. Have not seen it on many wake boats, but would think someone with an addictive personality would possibly name their boat "Liquid Addiction' or something, but it sounds like people think that if you name it something like that, it still translates to "Butt Pirate"

I would not care what others think either Hate...I think it is a good name especially for the antics that occur while on the boat! One of the girls that rides on my boat never wants to jump the wake or anything, but after about 2 or 3 adult beverages, she is tearing it up without a care in the world....so your boat name holds true in many cases!

people name boats over 26ft, so they can register them with the USCG instead of the state.

If its less than 25 or 30 ft, i say stick to the name the MFG gave it when they made it. THat being said, there are some guys with some cool sayings on their boats.....but really, how many times to you have to see "its 5 oclock somewhere" or "rum bucket" on the back of a boat? Did see a cigarette boat called "Moisture Missle" in tahoe, that was pretty sweet.....but it was a $300k 35' boat. I say pass. Call it whatever you want, just dont' put the name on the back.

someone want to dig up the thread on this same topic a while back where the guy asked for help naming his boat? I would love to re-read that thread. I think "Sausagesetter" was the unanimous winner.

I had a name on the back of my boat for one season, but I removed it after me neighbor's 6 year old daughter told him he wanted to go on the boat and asked what "WAKE SL^T" was. I actually loved it! I'll dig a photo up if I can find one!

Our boat came with a name. Not sure who named it though, but I think it looks good. Our other boat (smaller fishing boat) my Nana named before she died so that one is 'Adventure' for the rest of it's life.

I saw a big cabin cruiser named "Off-Shore Drilling" with a little cartoon character running a jack hammer.... I liked that one, but you need to have a "stabbin' cabin" to pull that off!

My boat is called "My Favorite Child". There are no stickers for this - but it is embroidered on the speaker sox. My oldest daughter actually suggested the name. It gets a lot of chuckles and strange looks.

My boat (86 sn 2001) doesnt have the name on it, but everyone calls her Maggie May because she's my older woman and we all would be thinking about riding when it was late september and we should be back in school (referencing the Rod Stuart song)
