These are the new more surf specific V drives as you can see there is turned down exhaust, an angled swim platform for less to no wave interference and the biggest change the multi wake plate system. According to my dealer once production starts there will be just 2 23" plates on each side but I'm certain Sanger will build to suit if you want a center one as well.

I repp'd em on the surf thread too but The Pro Shop in Longview , Wa is awesome and Don is the man as is Jason his son. I have no affiliation with them other than being a very happy customer.

Yeah, probably the Z5 cargo rack which looks great up but don't much care for it down and I think I put mine up twice this year. The functionality of it is awesome though.

I really like the blue/black combo. Is that a surfer on the S? I was impressed with their fit and finish on the boat they had at Expo and the first time to see a Sanger in person.

yes gerald. with the wakeplates being on the v of the hull you can create an even larger surf wake with less weight because you can trim the plate down on the one side and not the other

WOW! Sanger is really stepping it up. Graphics are looking really good! Are those LEDs under the platform?

Nice!
Questions:
Have they changed to the new dash in the V215?
Is sanger running with the gps Smartcraft cruise and launch control system?
If so does it control the plate as well like the Supra smart plate system?
What is the fold down height of the wakeair tower, does it fit in a 7ft door?
Whats the power on the new Mercruiser cat motors?

Yea the 215 graphic on the back of the first boat and the Sanger logo look's like a Gang tattoo. "Perfict"

Old English script

Ya that's some real gangsta there. Boats look nice though, hopefully you don't have to get that writing on them. I'd opt for no lettering if that was the case. I think the 3 trim tab idea is great and would work well. I wouldn't mind a demo in a 237 surf edition.

The tower looks much better on the 237 than the 215. I think I would order the boat without a tower and have samson make one of their Razor or Switchblade towers for it.

I'm not feeling that tower or the "Olde English" graphic.

But the trimtabs and turndown exhaust are nice features.

Am I missing something? What good is the turned down exhaust tips? Still going to be breathing exhaust when surfing I would think. And it's going to be tough to instal an FAE with that setup. Tower looks terrible too IMHO...

stoked to see the trim tabs, exhaust tips, swim step, etc... they are taking this surf craze serious, thats good. lets hope they dont lose sight of the wake side of things though....... i would hope to see more needed basic improvements like more ballast, in the floor hard tanks, etc... and lets keep the classic look of a sanger, well, a sanger. there is only one tower imo that belongs on a sanger, pro flight chuby.

they dont make em like they used too.

Whats up with the placement of the stern handle? Is it a handle or is a transom guard. Other than that Sanger is doing some good things unfortunately the economy wont get them the sales growth the would hope on the new 237.

Since Sanger is goin for that old english script style and gangsta look, they black supports on the tower....someone should do a dirrty little airbrush setup and make those look like switchblades. haha look tiight.

IMO, that boat is killer. Love to see one murdered out.

The 237 is really sharp, the bend in the 215's tower throws it off a bit. They both flow really well with the windshields though=]
All in all sick looking boats!

And i would LOVE to test the wake on one of these :-)

Sanger was gangster before gangster was gangster.

Here is his reply:

< The dash of the V-215 will stay the same for now. Rather or not they plan to make a change, we do not know at this point. It has generally been Sanger's history to change a dash only when there is a good reason to do so. It might be more likely that at some point Sanger would change to Smartcraft gauges without changing the layout of the dash.
< Sanger is using Perfect Pass exclusively, but they have changed from the paddle wheel speed input to Stargazer GPS on all models.
< The Bennett plates for wakesurfing will be controlled from the dash. Any kind of automatic/integrated control system is asking for future problems as far as we are concerned. Integration often saves money at time of manufacture, is often a service nightmare later on. Keep in mind that Sanger does not rely on a center plate that moves up and down as the speed of the boat changes. We do not need to change the trim to be efficient throughout the boats entire speed range. Other, flatter bottom boats with rockered hull shapes cannot work well at all speeds without adjusting the plate.
< Mercruiser's Smartcruise system is far from proven at this point. Perfect Pass has spent many years evolving their system, and it is our opinion that it is hands down the best choice for speed control in any boat.
< The Mercruiser 350 Scorpion is 330 hp like the current Black Scorpion. The catalytic requirement is an issue only in California now, but may become a requirement in other states in coming years. The goal in designing this motor was to NOT lose power. The design of the exhaust manifolds offsets the additional back pressure of the cat system according to Merc. In order for the catalytic system to work, the ECM needs more sensors in the air intake and exhaust gas system. As with any new engineering, we never like to experiment on our customers. It is much more difficult to test marine engines pre-production that it is to test car and truck motors. The extra cost of this makes it less attractive to customers anyway, and we are glad to not HAVE to offer early versions of these motors to our customers. Additionally, there is no version of this available yet in the 377 long stroke small block, which is the motor we really like in the V-237. We will have to wait and see what happens there in the next year.
<The WakeAir tower does fold down very low (just above windshield height), but the overall height depends on trailer, and tire and wheel size. We are generally offering Samson towers instead of WakeAir because we like the look and functionality better. The boats we have in stock now were bought at special pricing, and selected from inventory already built. So, we do have Wake Air towers in stock on some boats now. The V-215's we have available WILL fit in a 7 foot garage door. We will have our first V-237 with a Samson Razor tower very soon (a boat is at Samson now being fitted with the first one).

New towers are ugly IMO.
Whats with all the trim tabs? If you cant get the bottom right just add tabs to fix it? I know they say its for surfing but I wonder how it rides with all the tabs up, porpoisey ?
I do like the new look graphics and Gel schemes.
Old    walt            11-01-2008, 10:41 AM Reply
My guess is they added the trim tabs for the surf crowd. My V210 doesn't get (porpoisey) until I hit 45-47 MPH. I don't think the 215 has a problem with that either unless they changed the hull.

I doubt the turned down exhaust pipes will do a thing but they look nice.
Old     (wake_upppp)      Join Date: Nov 2003       11-01-2008, 10:39 PM Reply
The 215 does have the porpoise issue. That is why it and the 230 come with center trim tab, but not the 210. It's got to do with the length of the hull and the fact that they are v-drives. The 215 and 230 would not have the issue in direct drive form. It's got nothing to do with the hull. The Sanger comp hull design is one of the best in the industry and has been basically unchanged for twenty plus years. "If it ain't broke...) All the other hulls that keep changing are the ones that are trying to "get it right". They otta just copy Sanger and get on wit it. The semi-deep v with delta pad is where it's at.
Old     (ralph)      Join Date: Apr 2002       11-01-2008, 11:20 PM Reply
My V210 starts porpoising at 40mph but I carry a bunch of fixed weight which probably upsets the "factory" balance. The V210 hull is rock solid awesome, the wake such a small boat can put out is astonishing, truly a great design IMO.
Old     (rallyart)      Join Date: Nov 2006       11-02-2008, 1:01 AM Reply
My D215 has never porpoised. Even with my trim tab all the way up or when I had it off. Mine, and the V215s at my dealers all came with the barefoot plate. I think that had to do with hole shot at altitude more than anything else. I swapped my fixed barefoot plate for the Bennett plate.
I'm sure the side tabs are to give instant list to improve the surfwake, as Walt suggested.

Here is what Josh Howell had to say about the Surf Series:

By Josh Howell (liquid119) on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 - 2:49 pm:
What a great competition it was this weekend, and everyone who competed was crazy for getting into the water because it was icy cold weather. Every body involved did a great job and big thanks to the Ashley and RJ for the jetski duties because you couldn't paid me enough to get on those in that weather. The Walkers and Horton's did it again, put on another great competition and I am happy to say I was involved in something this great. Thanks Jeff for the "one of the best rated drivers in the nation" comment, but we all know that is not true; I am the best in the nation.

Speaking of the best, those new Sanger V237 Surf Series boats I drove this weekend were amazing. Hands down the best boat I have ever driven and surfwake I have ever seen. This boat has one of the best features that I don't think any other boat has and that is the Launch System. It made it so nice to drive all day because with this system you can set it at 1 through 5, then you just push the throttle all the way down and the boat does the rest. 1 for the slowest easiest launch out of the water for beginners and 5 for slingshot you out. I used setting 3 for the comp and it pulled every rider out of the water the same every time at the same speed. It made driving so much easier. The other cool thing about this boat was the SAWS (Sanger adjustable wake system)...I think that is right. In other words, it is the trim tabs on the boat that lets you adjust the wake on the fly for any kind of rider. Each boat was weighted with about 1300lbs of lead (thanks to Jared at Lead Wake) and on the fly you could adjust if you wanted the wake longer or steeper. The great thing is the wake looked just as great on both side of the boat. A good example was during the competition most riders in the open skim wanted the wake a little longer and less peaky, so after the open surf went I just hit a button and changed the wake. Then during the open skim the last rider (Sean) asked during his ride for the wake to be steeper and one button push did that; so versatile. This system also allows you to leave the boat weighted and still drive to another spot or in to the ramp by adjusting the SAWS to level the boat at planing speeds; this will save lots of hassle not having to move all the lead out of the locker to get to the ramp at the end of the day.

I am very impressed with this boat and it is now at the top of my list; anyone got some spare change so I can buy one
