Good evening folks.

First off i want to apologize for beating a dead horse. I've read so many comparisons with so many biased opinions, i'm not sure what to think.

Okay... I'm a beginner wakeboarder. I'm coming from a weighted down 2005 bayliner 175 flight series (tower). Having a boat that throws a decent (better than the 175) is just as important as being comfortable for 5-7 people. I'm looking to trade up this weekend. I've got two boats in mind but i'm on a budget. I'm in Central Florida and both boats are fresh water boats.

Option a. 1995 Mastercaft prosport 205. Can be had for $8500 or so. Comes with a boat cover. 450 hours. 5.7 v8. Extremely clean.

option b. 2000 Moomba outlook. Can be had for $11000 or so. Comes with two tubes, bimini, boat cover, two sets of skis. 450 hours. 5.7 v8. 450 hours. absolutely spotless. Looks like new.

Now, i need to reiterate. i'm a beginner wakeboarder at best. i can throw a 180. I have to fat sac (500lb's + passengers) to get what i call a good wake. I'm 50 feet behind the boat which is honestly about 10 feet too far as the wake becomes mush. I'd love to have a vdrive and/or spend 20k on a spectacular boat but it's not going to happen. 11k is my limit. I'm looking for something reliable, roomy, and a good all around boat. It appears these two boats are extremely similar outside of the names. We spend just as much time cruising our local chain of lakes as skiing/wakeboarding.

Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Sam

I'd look for a tad newer 205 if possible. I think 96 is when the hull changed, which was shared with the 205V hull. The MC can get really good with weight.

Disregard. Missed the 205 and thought you said 195

Here is the 205 breakdown

The moomba performance wise isn't going to be any better than your current bayliner with weight. The nose sits really low , it has next to zero freeboard , the hull is ridiculously flat , and adding weight really does nothing to shape the wake. The only performance gain you would get would be the driving of an inboard and much lower coast of maintenance than an I/O .

Even being pre hull change being a 95 the Prostar ( not the prosport) 205 has a bit better wakeboarding wake . While it's still a lower sitting direct drive , it had more freeboard than the Moomba. It's still pretty tight inside compared to the 1996 change , its will also be tighter inside than the Moomba , but the wake will be better. The price on the MC is solid if it's as clean as you say. If that's your budget and it makes you feel comfortable go for it.

However you are considering dropping 11k on a Moomba for comparison. If you're comfortable with a 11k bumping that to 12-13 gets you that 96 prostar that will be 10 times better or puts you into Sport Nautique range as well. That's really where you want to be for wakeboarding

If you are talking strictly wake, the master craft will be better.

That era outback wasn't known to be a good wake hull.

Sorry for the typo. Appreciate the responses. Going to keep looking and see what pops up.

That's the best choice of all, you'll be much happier in the long run you did.

No sir.

Going to hold off until winter. We do a trip up to crystal river every July for scalloping anyways. The bayliner is great for it.

Looking forward to upgrading. I'm thinking I'm going to hold out for a V Drive. I hate to get rid of the bayliner. We've ran that little boat every weekend without issues. Just want to step up the wakeboarding and get some more room in the boat.

That's a scam - no way you'd find a v210 at that price.

Regarding the tower - Sanger offered an optional 'rear' mount for a little while. I don't remember what the rationale was, but that's a factory installation. You'll see some with the same tower mounted traditionally.
