So we decided to strap my buddies brand new GoPro Hero on my Traxxas Spartan running two 3S 5000mah 40C Lipo packs. The boat does 50-55mph. Well after plowing through a group a geese the GoPro came loose after the boat got a bit squirly. Long story short the GoPro sunk like a rock to the bottom of Lady Bird Lake(formerly know as Town Lake) in downtown Austin. We decided to go back the next day to try to find it with just 3mm/2mm wetsuits on and googles. With the water temp at an even 50 degrees it was nearly unbearable free diving at depths of 15feet without a neoprene hood and gloves/booties. Luckily a University of Texas student witnessed the GoPro go down and happened to be a scuba instructer. After giving it a shot ourselves we called him to the rescue. He spent about 10 minutes on the bottom on the lake and sucessfully found it!

Maybe that's the next thing you need to mount on the Spartan

I put a marine key float on my waterproof housing to avoid this scenario. Great video!

That was fun to watch!

Gopros are tough as nails. Mine so far has taken a crash on the race track from my street bike, where the bike tumbled at about 80 mph. Plus it has been smacked off of my dirtbike helmet at about 30 mph by a tree branch. Nothing seems to hurt it.

How do you like the spartan. Picked one up a few weeks ago but haven't tried it yet. Are you having any overheating problems

Running 4S total i have no temp problems - runs very cool. Running all out balls to the wall on a huge 6S pack the ESC will go into thermal. However this may be do a dry flex shaft. I finally lubed it today after several runs. You need to lube it after every pack you run with the Traxxas oil or get some flex shaft grease which should hold up much longer. I ran a 6s 20c, totaling 8000mah and didnt not over heat but it did get very hot.

That's what I've been hearing. I idid the water intake upgrade so we'll see how that works. What flex shaft grease would you recommend. Just ordered some new Lipos so I can't wait to take it out.

Your LHS should have flex shaft grease - doesn't really matter which brand. What Lipos did you order?

Which water intake upgrade did you do? Send me the link. Unfortunately I don't think this will help the problem. They should have made this 5s setup in my opinion.

I opened up the water intake and ran thicker tubing to the motor and esc and teed it. If that doesnt work im going to get a bigger cooling jacket. Tons of info over here:
