feature film, could change the industry?

I'm sure everyone is aware of the feature film thats in the making right now,and I was thinking about it, I think it will be really good for the industry, economically anyway. simply because it is introducing wakeboarding to a much larger audience. Even if only one person in each viewing decides to take an interest in the sport, think of how many people that would be across the country! This could really help the industry imo, I was just wondering what everyone else was thinking about it. Both pros and cons to having a feature film out there. The only con I could think of is if the industry gets too big it will be harder to get in touch/stay in touch with the pros. I dunno though, I could be wrong.

I'm not holding my breath. I would be surprised if this film ever played in a theater. Don't get me wrong, I am excited to se a wakeboard based film, but I don't think it will have a significant impact on the industry.

I would love to see it - but (this is me being selfish) more people means more boats and rougher water. I have a hard enough time finding good water as it is. I am usually getting my first rides under the tower lights before sunrise - I'd sure hate to have that taken away from me.

Unfortunately the movie will probably go right to disk. I've never seen more than highlights of any tournament, and that incledes ESPN 2 or X games. I think its a conspiracy

I beleive that a "feature film" would not really get anyone interested, but it definately give people something to refer to when you talk about wakeboarding. For any ex or current skaters out there, how many times has some comedic genius given you the sign of the devil and said "Skate or die dude!"
The only way this sport will grow is with WAY more affordable boats, and the spread of cable parks.
With the economy the way it is, only the die hards can justify owning a wakeboard boat.
It is a stretch to believe that Joe Breifcase will see a movie about something he knows nothing about, decide it looks like fun, run out and get a second mortgage on his house to buy a boat.

Well, except for cali and or florida and maybe a few other places wakeboarding isn't exactly popular yet. I grew up on a lake skiing and tubing and last year was the first year we even saw a wakeboarder.. needless to say I tried and it was hooked right away, bought my own this year. Here in MA I'd say that 4/5 ppl you talk too don't even know what a wakeboard is. If they do a good job with the movie I think wakeboarding will be much more widely known, and you don't NEED a 40k boat to wakeboard. I own an old 17ft I/O and the wake aint HUGE but its not exactly small either. You might need a good setup to go huge and throw 900's but you don't need 50k in gear to have a lot of fun. I see the movie making wakeboarding much more popular. Just my 2 cents =)
