After looking at videos pictures and all that, I've noticed that everybody holds the handle with both palms down. Is there some reason for this?

I hold it vertically with the palms facing each other, left hand on top and right hand on bottom, and sometimes switch to left on bottom and right on top when I go fakie. Is there a disadvantage to holding it this way?
I didn't have anyone to show me how to wakeboard or anything so I just did what was comfortable...
thanks

Holding the handle both palms down is the only way to
progress. Holding the handle like you do is common of people who have crossed over from waterskiing. With palms facing each other you generally pull to much with the upward facing palm causing your balance to be thrown off. Think about driving a car and turning the wheel with such a grip, it is alot easier to turn with both palms down.

Daniel - your profile pic is sick bro.

David - he nailed it. You won't be able to load the line properly. It may feel weird at first to go to both palms down but once you get the feeling, watch out.
