What removes 303 aerospace protectant?

Got overspray all over over my tailgate of my black truck. Tried wiping it off, but it smeared horribly. I tried vinegar/water, didn't work, tried dish soap and water to no avail, for grins even tried clay bar...yep... u guessed it. Didn't touch it. So what cuts this stuff w/o stripping my paint?

You may want to try wet sanding with 1500-2000 grit paper. Take your time and sand very lightly using lots of water. The key here is to sand through overspray but not through the clear coat. Then all you need to do is polish it back out.

Just for giggles try using WD-40 on a small spot. I've cut through many a chemical with that stuff and it won't harm the paint. It's also way easier to remove than 303.

Try 3m's wax and grease remover or bug and tar remover.

Simply wash your vehicle and re-wax it. I use 303 by the gallon, on my boat and on my truck, and on my black Denali (all the rubber trim). I have never had any problems with 303.

303 the whole tailgate. if not time will wear it off.

882001 is right, you can use 303 instead of wax. The key is to buff it off right after your apply it. There was a really good article on the 303 website on how to use 303 instead of wax. I was doing it for a while on my truck, worked pretty good, but you had to make sure you buffed it immediatly after applying it. 303 works wonders for your boat's gelcoat too, same principal, spray on the gelcoat and buff out.

WD40 is a real mild solvent.

I also like the idea of 303'ing the whole thing. I've read lots of people talking about how they 303 their painted vehicles too.

Try using more 303. Dampen a rag with 303 and wipe it on the area, then with a dry cloth right away.
I work with alot of penetrating stone sealers and that's the only way to remove a dried haze or overspray. The sealer reactivates it so you can wipe it off

have you tried a cleaner wax? some of the marine grade cleaner waxes will remove stuborn spots and stains. You need to be really careful because of the fact that your truck is black and is going to show everything. It would be a shame to have to repaint a tailgate...

Thanks guys. The fact that it's black as trevor mentioned had me worried about what i could use. I had already tried the WD40 as Rick and craig suggested. Worked a bit.

In the end what did it, was dish soap then wiping it down w/ vinegar/water, and repeating this about 10 times. It finally came off. Then had to buff it out.

Wow, I guess 303 really does last a long time, I'm glad I know that I'm not just washing the 303 off each time I rinse down my boat. AWESOME!

Tanner.... make sure you get some wax back on it. You've essentially stripped all the wax out of the paint right now.

If it's a new truck, then it likely needs a coat of wax to seal the paint (if it hasn't been done yet). I'd be very suprised if cleaner wax, like Meguires, wouldn't take the 303 off in the future.

Already did that Evan Any time I use dish soap I always wax.... since... as you stated.... it strips the wax.
