I posted this in another thread of similar topic, but this is a picture of an 07 X-45 with the new switch graphic and new tower that was delivered to our dealership this past week. Also you might not notice but MC changed up their aluminum trailer wheels this year and I've been told that the 07's with MCX's are shipping with the new 14 x 14 OJ prop.

What were they thinking with that tower? It does not match the lines of the boat at all, in any way. I really liked the previous MC wheels better too.

Maybe they should put a yellow tower on it and a McDonalds logo on the side.

I've got to agree with you guys, that tower post is too over-powering. Look at the 06 and it is a nice balance over the entire boat, no specific item draws your eye to it or away from the rest of the boat. Looking at the '07's, my eyes are drawn instantly to a big, black, guady (sp?) post. Sorry for the knock MC. On another note: What gas stations carry 93 octane as specified for the LY6. Most super unleaded is 91.

I think they did it so it would fold down easy it looks like the sides fold in and the top bar folds back . The 06 tower isnt user friendly the 07 tower is fugly .

MC has put the 07 Owner's Manual up on their website http://www.mastercraft.com/manuals/2007%20Owners%20Manual.pdf I don't know how many of the pics, though, are of '07 models. The X-2 pic, for example, was an 06.

This boat is hilarious!!! Wow, its as close to the tige paint scheme as you could possibly get. In fact I heard they went to a Tige dealer and took photos and measurements. You would think they would at least change some things. Wonder why it took them so long, they must have a high tech design and research department. Its called R & D which in mastercrafts words means "Research and Duplicate" i think brian smith the road king said something alot like this once. this goes to show you that there is not a whole lot of originality in the boat biz. just advancements in comfort and technology!

Jake what are we talking about here. You think that the gel coat is a copy off of a Tige? Surely I'm not the only one in this thread that has seen the thread for the new Tige RZ whatever(aka FakeStar). Because I believe that is the exact same terminology that was used when commenting about Tige's R&D and the feelings of their efforts to copy the XStar. Get serious man,A gel coat scheme is a copy from another manufacturer?!? You heard they wen't to a Tige dealer to get the measurements. Measurements for what..the color scheme. MC has had this gel coat scheme for the past three years and as far as the colors go it's pretty hard to call a color combination a copy. Especially in the sense you are referring to with R&D. I would agree with you on the originality point you make about the industry, but rarely do you see MasterCraft have anything second to another manufacturer in the industry.

Jake was being what we here in non-online land call 'facetious', not having realized yet that sarcasm is almost completely lost on an online forum Tower's not too bad, it is what it is...you guys sure are a bunch of change haters My eye wasn't drawn to the tower as much as to the 93 octane MINIMUM REQUIREMENT on that 6.0 motor. Don't believe I'll be springing for that guy anytime soon.

it was totally a joke.....aka facetious. the originality point was the only one i was trying to make. i just thought i would intro the same way others have in the past. i understand people defend their boat and boat company. which is why i defend my tige. otherwise these forums would not create the buzz that they have for so many years. its all fun. i just saw something that looked similar and called it out.

Not to hijack but I also was curious about the 93 octane rating. My Black Scorpion (350 ci 330hp)manual says preffered octane rating of 87 and higher octane is acceptable. I have been alternating between 89 and 91. Any thoughts?

Rich - i do not beleive their is any advantage to run any higher octane rating than what is recommended by the manufacturer. Octane rating is based on the temperature and pressure the fuel will combust at. Higher rating means higher pressure to get the fuel to combust at. Which is why higher compression engines require higher octane ratings. Running higher rating fuel then recommended will only waiste money and gas because you will not develop the pressure required for full combustion. Running a lower rated gas can cause predetination because it is starting to combust before the piston is at the top of it's stroke.

The paint scheme is suspiciously similar to Tige's, but I think it looks great on that boat. I like the new tower. That bimini looks like it is so small...it came from a recycled pair of women's panties.

If you notice the trend in towers lately there is less material & side bars on every one of em... My thoughts are less material, less welds, less time putting pieces in place & welding together - overall less man hours = lower costs. my .02 cents

Thanks for the info T. I think i will still run at least mid-grade. Seems like after spending big bucks on a new boat it would be hard for me to put in crappy gas.

Rich - with a new boat i would check your manual and make sure mid grade (89) is ok for your boat and be sure it is not calling for 91 octane.

Went home for lunch just to clarify and for sure says 87 octane in the manual. I have tried both 89 and 91 and dont notice a difference but I will probably go with 91 since it's just a few bucks difference. Thanks again

all the models are updated on there site.. www.mastercraft.com The tower will grow on us all i think. thats what happend with the 05-6 ones for me. and now i dont care much for the 04 ones haha. But i think the x1 looks weird with that bulky of a tower.. others arnt to terribly bad. but im still undecided.

Yeah it seems odd they list those as 2007 models. The boats are all exactly the same as before except for the towers. (Which I agree with Jason that the 05 grew on me and I like them better than the 04s now.) Maybe they are really 2006 1/2 with that tower? I feel they look a bit gaudy. Not the clean look of the "2006" models. I was never much of a fan of the 2005 and 06 XStar tower.

Hey Andrew, is the 03/04 X-Star tower any different to the 05/06? Apart from the board racks?

Paul I'm not sure actually. I just didn't care for the lightening bolt tower support that was on 04 and 05. It was prob on the earlier models too.
