While checking out the stuff that came with our boat, I noticed that the plastic sleeve that fits inside the extended pylon and rides between the extended pylon and the boats' factory pylon is junk. Cracked the entire length, and brittle to the point that when it fell out of the pylon and hit the floor of the garage, it broke a chunk off..

"Air Time" is apparently out of business. Anybody ever have to replace one of these sleeves?
I wonder if a sleeve for another brand of pylon would work. I.D. should be standard at 2.5, but the O.D. might be different....

Thoughts?

I had the skylon extended pylon. I had no inner plastic sleeve. Waht purpose does that sleeve serve besides keepint he boat pylon from being scratched?

I think protection against wear on the inner surface of the pylon and the seperation of the two metal surfaces is the primary reason for the sleeve.
Skylon's website states that their "fat pole" is sleeved...

yeah, those sleves are a very thin plstic web material that wore thru on mine in about 6 months. They served no purpose but to prevent scratches on the existing pylon. Since my boat was a 92 a few little scrathes on the existing pylon didn't bother me. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks, I will look around for some thin wall plastic tubing on the 'net. I just got our Sanger, it is very clean, and I am kinda anal about this stuff, anyway. I am going to try to scrape up the $ for a Monster Tower this spring, but may need to use the pylon for awhile...
Perhaps I'll just call skylon and tell them to send me a sleeve..

I can't see them costing more than a couple of bucks.

request a free sample from www.caplugs.com, or go to www.mcmaster.com & search for plastic mesh sleeving.

Thanks!
These places are what I needed to find.
