I want to make my own wakeskate, but a friend of mine works in a skate shop and he says that griptape won't stick in water. Is this true? or is there something I can do to stop it?

Is That Stuff cheaper than skate griptape? Where do you get it?

Mine was way cheaper, like free. I would check with online for an industrial supply catalog, or check with local factories and see if their maintenance department may have some that they can sell you. I had a friend get me some from the place he works. It will scar you up pretty good though if you land on it. I guess any griptape will, but this stuff is coarse.

i made my old wakeskate and got up on it, but i need to put some fins on it but don't know how to.
My uncle had a very old wake board, one of the ones that is shaped like a surfboard, and it didn't have and of the hole drilled in it or anything. I went down to home deopt and got some rubber suff that keeps things from sliding around on conters or other things and ducktaped it on the board. I threw on some old shoes and it worked ok just really hard to control cuz theres no fins
