Where I ride, the river changes direction a lot which affects the lighting in a manner of seconds. When shooting a set I can see about 4-5 different sun angles. My pics come out pretty good when the sun is in the right spot but I am having trouble in the slightly back lit or side shadow situations. I can make it a little better in photoshop but obviously that takes time.

Are there any techniques that I can make quick changes to adjust for sun angle?

A problem with my last set, is that in side or slightly backlit situations the rider came out pretty dark but the boat prop wash and spray came out overexposed. I can provide examples if need be.
