So last weekend I rode behind a high pylon for the first time. I had just bought it and installed it and went out to try it out. I was very happy with it, and felt really good about my air time. So i decided to try a shifty and see what happens. I tried it the first time and didn't turn the board all the way around, and still landed it. Then, on my second attempt, I turned it all the way but couldn't seem to turn my body back all the way. I felt reall off balance, and landed with the nose of the board facing the boat and slipped out. I was wondering If you guys have any advice on shifty's and have any idea what i'm doing wrong. I just feel really off balance once I start turning my board. Thanks

Agreed with Joe. Keeping the handle in tight is the most important advice for this trick. When I do it, I try to lock my elbows to my sides, so everything is at a nice 90 deg angle. Good luck, post pics.

Personal choice I guess, but it sure feels good when you are looking back and down at the wash/shadow underneath you. That's how I time the landings on them..........

They are easy with a real short power cut push off with your back foot, pull the handle to the small of your back and then after you cross the second wake pullthe handle to your lead hip.

My favorite is now a Toeside indy or Stalefish into the flats. I just recently learned how to take my TS jumps into the flats. It feels good.

Hey WADE.......... Advice, Kiss my ass. Considering that you have only been out of the 7th grade for 5 years and I have been riding for 14 years, your opinion means nothing to me or anyone who has something positive to add to the site. Go hang out with Trevor......... J-Rod, I love the toe stale's as well, it feels very tweaked when you bone it out.

funny how 18 yo's always refer to a boat as theirs. quote:Boat : any boat sold mine.
You did shifties in 7th grade @ 12 yo? Why aren't you pro? 6 years later........ you should've progressed to some very technical tricks. Post a more current pic than the one in your profile.

Not sure if I'm even doing it close to right, but I do them frontside. I try to poke my back leg toward the boat...is that even a technically correct??

I think Andy's tindy shifty looks A LOT better than the indy shifty. More poked and less compact. Very sick.
