Heard this today from someone who went to the meeting of the board of supervisors yesterday. Dont know if its true but I think he is a credible guy. So I guess they are giving the lake back to the state and who knows what will happen from there. If anyone has any more info please let us know.

amazing. i really hope the state can figure out how to keep it open. gideon made a good point today. they do have a heck of a lot of staff there but it doesn't seem to result in safer boating vis-a-vis any other lake around...

and there's a lot of local business in the area that depends on the lake for their livelihood. if you have any interest in keeping cataic open please make a call or send an email. i've asked the savecastaiclake webmaster to put up contact information of those we should lobby about this.

I think the upper lake can sustain itself with the entrance fees. The expensive part is the lower lake swim beach. They have like 20 lifegaurds per day and families of 10 getting through the gate for 6 bucks. Close the swim beach and the expense of the lake goes way down.
