My roommates and I just moved out to a lake and are looking into buying a jetski to wakeskate behind.

So, we're currently looking at a:

- 2006 Yamaha FX-140 High Output with 110 hours for $7,000 (NADA low retail: $7,300)

- 2004 See Doo Bombardier GTX 4-TEC Supercharged with 30 hours for $6,000 (NADA low retail: $6,300)

We get free trailers with both.

Both jetskis look really nice are in excellent condition, but we'd like to get some opinions on which would be a better ski to tow a wakeskater behind.

Is one company known to make more reliable skis? I've heard that See Doos have more problems that other jetskis..?

Wow... unanimous Yamaha recommendations.

Any other opinions or things I should be aware of?

I have also heard that SeaDoos have more probs than other skis out there, but I also understand that there are MORE SeaDoos out there than any other ski.

Check the SeaDoo website...on the new 08 wake version, it comes with ballast. This ballast can be purchased seperately and fits back a couple years models....just something to think about & look into.

IMO, either way you'll be having tons of fun.

Yeah, the Yamaha will pee on you unless you pull the rubber hose and let it exit under the back. Not a big mod. and defanatly not a reason to shy away from Yamaha.

Wow - thanks for all the info. Sounds like we will be getting the Yamaha over the Sea Doo - if anything b/c the reputation of Yamaha is a lot better, so it should be easier to sell in the future.

The seadoo will be faster and probably more fun to ride. (185 hp vs. 140 I think) You can get racks to hold your board and a ski pylon on it also.(Not sure if the yami has those.) Only semi serious issue with those seadoos is the ceramic supercharger clutch. That being said the failure rate is very low. Keep it stock and I think those model seadoos are fairly solid.

3 seasons, 60 hours and no issues on mine.
