Replacing rubrail, Any advice, Tips......?

I am going to tackle my rub rail this weekend for my 86 supra closed bow. I have the factory replacement. Do I just pull insert out unscrew and replace new? Is there any tricks? Thanks

I have been thinking of doing the same to my boat. I have heard that it is very important to make sure the rubber insert is very tight when installing. If it goes in the insert loose, it will eventually fall out.

I replaced one on an 83 nautique, the only trouble was when I was trying to hit the old holes from the original rub rail, wasn't looking very clean until just screwed them in and let the screws make new holes, looked great. Let the rub rail sit in the sun for an hour or so, it'll be a lot easier to work with.

Thanks guys, I will post some pics of the finished job and I also plan on compounding, polishing and waxing the baby too.

A heat gun (low setting) will help mold the rubber part of the rail 'bend' a little easier (assuming you are putting a rubber insert in).
