please respond YES or NO

Imagine there was a system that allowed you to wear sunglasses/ hat while riding. You'd never lose them, no matter how bad the spill. Would you want to buy it?

I'm a boarder with this little invention trying to see if I should invest a significant chunk of my time and money bringing this trinket to market.

Positive or negative, Everyones' opinion is greatly needed and appreciated!

I have very sensitive eyes and am always wearing sunglasses but I never wear any when I ride. I would feel that if you crash bad enough they could possibly cause damage to your eyes or possibly break your nose if they slid down. I think its a good idea but not a practical one. Just my 2 cents

^exactly what i was thinking. my eyes HATE sunlight. so maybe. Never thought of them as dangerous tho and still don't. Does this thing do more than a croakie would?

My brother was riding with safety glasses onea couple of years ago. He fell and had a cut across his forhead and the bridge of his nose.

Sorry but no. I had a friend get a huge gash on her cheek when the rope popped back into the boat nailed her in the face. Obviously your system wouldn't be the same but I don't want to be encumbered with that nor would I feel safe.

Hell yes, you could even market them with a remake of the infamous " I wear my sunglasses at night"

do they offer clear lenses so we can ride in the rain too? haha. it sucks to be in the NW sometimes.

It's cool you are trying to think of new things, but I think I am with most everyone else on this. I think a face plant would hurt much more with glasses on.

Wow, I'm really suprised at how many people are concerned about the possibility of face-plant injuries. I've always worn goggles snowboarding and glasses Mt biking w/out thinking of the possibilities. Eyewear on the water just seems like a natural extension to me.

I've got 300 days on this system. Not once have I come up thinking that the glasses even kissed my face.

please keep those opinions coming

Have you rode any with them on? I like the idea of no more eyelid peel but I swear I have face planted hard enough to make that full face helmet idea sound nice. I do not face plant regularly now but it still happens(over rotate, under rotate) Just thinking of that plastic impacting my face hurts. I have been hit in the face enough already.

I often wear hats while wakeboarding, so if it would hold a hat then I would buy it, but not so sure about the whole sunglasses thing...

Soon as you get spray on them it is over. You will be wiping them all day unless you like looking a liquidy or dimpled looking waterscape.

Can you make something that would enable holding a cocktail while riding that wouldnt spill if i fell?
Old     (dedicatedwse)      Join Date: Apr 2006       01-09-2007, 8:47 PM Reply
I wear sunglasses when doing lots of stuff, but not when I really feel like I need to see everything in front of me...like when I'm driving the boat or being towed. I feel that I see better with the naked eye.

In other words...No I would have no desire to buy it

I like riding without my sunglasses... but I love to wear them when I get back to the boat.

I like the Idea the only problem would be the water on the lens. Im sure you already know they would have to be shatter proof. They would also have to be made of a softer material to absorb shock. I would try it if there was something out there.

No, but my eyes always hurt when I've been surfing ('proper' surfing, not wake surfing) so there may be a market for them there.

Wrap your face in colored Saran wrap, and then Rain X the part that covers your eyes.

nope, for reasons already mentioned (the face plant factor)

I think it's a good idea that has already been slightly done. My father has poor eyesight, thus requiring contacts, so he has worn "sport-glasses" (waterproof goggles pretty much) for years to protect his eyes and the contacts. The water wipes off, and he has never had an incident with crashing. He has different colored lenses and the strap works great. Other than looking a little goofy, having the glasses allows him to actually see while riding, allowing him to enjoy the sport I love. So yes, this could open more opportunities to those struggling with things other than faceplants.

I wear them every time I ride and I face plant a lot. They have never caused a problem. Water spots/drops are not a problem either. They are too close and your eyes don’t focus on them. You see right past them.

You can't see them well, but I have them on.

Post up if you claim them!

Ive worn some shades before(while wakeboarding). They were some pink spy glasses, so naturally I found my moms old hot pink shade-holder-float-thing and then proceded to RIP IT!
I never felt any pain when I hit my face on the water.. besides the throb... They are already on your face, so it has no room to gain any speed. People wear googles on the snow, snow seems harder than water to me. Unless the water somehow broke a lense and sent the shard into an eye how can it hurt????

No, though I do sport a swim cap and backwards white "Lords of Dogtown" cap while I ride. That's how I roll.

I use goggles for barefooting all the time, it's great to not have any spray jetting you in the eyes not to mention the uv protection since you hang out with sunglasses on in the boat why not ski with them on? I have face planted at 45mph with them on and they just fly off. I use speedo es-1 watersport mask from big 5 and I use bugz since they have clear and mirror/smoke lens. You get no glare skiing into the sun. These are waterproof so no water contacts your eyes.

I might be interested in having some NIce Affordable sunglasses that look good but function great on the water .

they would have to be safe and not break or be lost easily,i wouldnt wear them all the time but early morning and late evenings when the sun is directly in my eyes and glaring off the wake makes it hard to see the wake and throws the timing off a bit..

would be cool to have if the price wa right and product was great .

I wear sunglasses pretty regular when I ride (Thanks Umali!! )

Never a problem (yet), and glare and spray never an issue.....I wear photo-gray prescriptions, so my eyes are touchy in bright light. I take them off as lighting permits.......

i think that a gadget to keep your hat on would be awsome as long as it doesnt effect the way the hat looks too much
