Backroll bad habits

I have yet to land the backroll.... I recently recieved instruction from Ben Greenwood and he was unable to help me break my habits when trying the roll. Basically I am doing it all right but I may throw it too hard, or pull the handle incorrectly or something..... when I land, and now that I look at some of the past video I see, I am always doing like a 90 degree rotation on the roll, how can I prevent this, I have tried letting go with my back hand, attempting to spot the water and the boat and square up my shoulders, but I still have not gotten it. What should I do differently at the wake? I am thinking I am approaching it wrong? pushing, pulling too hard? I always start a 180 rotation and fall backwards upon landing

maybe turning your head over your shoulder too much and its causing you to spin that 180

Trying a backflip on a trampoline might help you too.

Actually, all you need to do is pull the handle to your lead hip in the roll. Dont pull it into your stomach. Keep your head in it, just over exagerate the pull to your lead hip. Once you land a few and you body understands the positioning, you wont have to pull it in so hard.

Chris, trying a backflip on a trampoline is practicing a tantrum, and does nothing to help with a backroll. A backroll can NOT be done on a trampoline...period!

I do the exact same thing, I can never get this trick EVERY time! I have been doing it all summer and i land 1/2. Just stick with it. I have a pic of my messed up style
