Water spots

What do you use to take mineral deposits off you boat?

mix of vinegar and water. cheap and smells like Easter. half and half for easy spots. less diluted for harder spots. I dont think vinegar hurts anything. I finish with a spray detailer so the smell goes away.

I learned this trick from a friend that has an all black boat. Use Comet Shower and Tile spray cleaner. It is safe for fiberglass and gel coat. it will dissolve all water spots and leave an unseen film that actually repells them

Ive used vinegar and water for years, but the spots are so bad on my gel coat now, it doesnt work. Im gonna try the comet, good idea.

I've used the vinegar and water thing for water spots, but I've got some nasty deposits that I can't get off, so I'm looking for something more aggressive. I might try the shower spray idea. However, I've heard of people using Zing, FSR and/or muriatic acid for really stubborn stains. Does anyone have any experience with these?

CLR 50/50 with water...

hot sauce works great and has wax in it

50/50 vinegar & water works great and does take off your wax coat, if used boat must be waxed often to prevent gel coat fading

All this stuff works really well, especially if you put your boat in 100 degree weather alot.

Also, make sure its distilled water...

Ive used zing but it smells bad and burns your skin. Ive always been afraid to leave it on too long in fear of it burning through the gel. it works great for mildew on hulls that have been left in the water all summer.

Old school trick... take a towel and wet it in the same water that the boat was in. Ring it out and wipe the boat down with that towel. For some reason almost no spots appear. It's old school and was taught to me by an old v-drive guy...

I typically own black boats and will use vin and water or babes for easy stuff and wipe downs, but on the real baked in water spots use
Meguiars Hard Water Spot Remover
Follow the directions and use some elbow grease. I promise you it will get them all out. I would apply a coat of wax after that as it does strip the boat. Good luck

+ 2 on the HOT SAUCE. I use to use the vinegar/distilled water/ liquid wax mix and the hot sauce is WAY better. I have a lot of black in my boat and it gets everything nice again.

The comet or Lime away work great- just apply with a light cloth and spray off- no elbow grease needed. The wax will come off too- so be prepared to re-apply, but once you get it waxed, a little vinegar and water work great for up-keep. I do this twice a summer and it works great.

KABOOM....works wonders

hotsauce works really good, but way to pricy if you use your boat alot. I'll try the hammerhead stuff it seems reasonable on price.
