My roommate and I are getting ready to do a D-rate (at best) ballast install, but--between the two of us--we don't have a clue how to remove the center floor panel (over the gas tank), so we're kind of stuck. I reached around underneath the floor by the center plug and found some screws, but they'd be impossible to get with any kind of tool, and I have no idea how many screws there actually are. Anybody with a 2000 X-Star or 2000 205V that knows what they're doing? Thanks in advance.

it just pulls out, no screws. you may need to loosen up the back bench some tho. Take off the cushion and remove some of the screws holding the bench together, then the floor should lift up and wiggle out.

remove 6 screws from the center seat of the rear bench. 3 up each side. They are accessed from the right rear under seat and left rear underseat. Then the others can be accessed from the rear storage compartments. That will loosen the bench up enough. Then pry the center floor up with a screwdriver from the bow side. Pry it up a little and pull back. There will be some carpet-on-carpet on friction that makes it seem difficult but it is not screwed in.

jEFF, I’VE ALSO GOT A 2000 X STAR AND I’M THINKING ABOUT UPGRADING THE REAR FAT SACS TO MAKE THEM AUTOMATIC ALONG WITH THE STOCK CENTER BALLAST. ARE YOU GUYS USING BALLAST PUPPIES IN THE REAR AND THE EXISTING TRANSOM THRU HULL OR THE STOCK CARTRIDGE PUMP? JUST TRYING TO SEE WHAT OTHER GUYS ARE DOING.
