I am making my first attempt at installing a system in my 88 nautique, but I was hoping some of you could pass on ideas for how to configure it. Here's the mismash of stuff to I have to work with.

Head unit: Pioneer DP5500 Mp3 player
Amp: Zapco AG350
1 - Eclipse 10" Sub
2 - Infinity Kappas 50.1cs
2 - Kenwood 100w 6x9s
2 - MB Quartz DXD 210/213
2 - MB Quartz WC130
2 - Infinity Reference 512i

Goal: Music must be clear at speed, but I don't really care if I hear it while riding.

I was thinking of running the Kenwoods and the References directly to the head unit, and then running everything else but the subwoofer off of the Zapco. The question is whether or not I will lose too much power from my amp if I run 3 speakers off of each channel? Thinking I will forego the sub until I can find the money to get an additional amp.

Any pointers?

You're on the right track.
Once you get a second amp for the
sub. Set your sights on a third amp
to split up the speakers.
Definitley don't pile the speakers up on one
amp. Having an odd number of speakers on each channel is a NO NO! For each speaker you attach
to a channel you cut the resistence in half. So if your speakers are 4ohm having two speakers chained will give you 2 ohms per speaker and 3 speakers would be 1 ohm each. Most amps are very unstable at 1 ohm.
You should be able to hook 8 speakers up to the Zapco and 4 to the deck.
You'll eventually need more power.
