Well, after driving almost 20 hrs to pick the boat up... she's finally here. I ended up buying a 99 SAN. The SAN has always pretty much been my dream boat so when I found one that I could finally afford I was stoked. It needs a little work, but I don't mind. It's mostly on the trailer anyway. I have a few questions:

1) It has the stock ballast system and the switch to work it is kind of weird. On my boat there is two white knobs labled left/right. Right next to the white knobs there is a little black toggle switch that is labled fill/drain. My question is how exactly does this system work? Do the white knobs fill the ballast tanks or does the little black toggle switch fill the tanks? Also, I have a fill/drain switch left over from one of my old ballast puppy pumps, can I just replace the old switch with that one?

2) My ballast dilema. All that is currently in the boat for ballast is the two rear hard tanks. I'm torn on whether I just keep the hard tanks in and plump a couple fly high v-drive sacs on top or just pull out the hard tanks and throw a couple fly high 750's in the rear compartments. Has anyone done either one? I will probably throw a fly high bottom seat sac in the locker and just fill it with a standard tsunami pump.

3) which impeller should I buy for it? there are a couple different kinds on whitelake.com and I wasn't sure which on to buy.

Any other good ideas that anyone has for me to add to the boat or know about the boat would be awesome!

I'm sure I will have more questions as I go so I will let you all know when I do. Thanks in advance for any help. I would be lost without this site!

1) I'm not 100% sure on a '99, but I'd assume the ballast operates similar to the 2000 and 2001 years in that the two white knobs basically control whether the tanks will fill or empty, and the black toggle switch activates either the single fill pump or the single empty pump. You can fill or empty either tank independently by changing the white knob (to open or close position for the respective tank) and then flip the switch to fill or empty.

2) You'll hear both sides of this one, I'm sure. It'd be nice to take out the tanks to have extra storage space and easier engine access. On the other hand, I like how simple my hard tanks are to fill and left mine in with auxiliary bags on top I mainly use to even out side to side. You'll have to deliberate on this one for a while!!

3) Not sure on this one. Do both state they're for PCM engines?

Nice looking ride!!

I have the same ride. Also have a Black z71. Anyways did some upgrades this winter. I installed Gen2 Tower and speakers. Upgraded the ballast. I just added to the factory. Let me know if you have any questions about ballast.Upload

Did you buy it from a guy named Paul?

In my cousin's, we installed a system independent from the stock ballast. It consists of v-drive sacs and a queen size waterbed in the locker. It's all filled and emptied with a ballast puppy.

Wow, nice looking boat! If you don't mind, could you tell how much you picked it up for? I just bought mine and did the ballast.

Check it out.

Okay, well I think I'm gonna just keep the stock tanks in the rear and add a couple v-drive sacs on top and throw a sac in the locker. Justin I will probably be shooting you an email to ask a few questions about how you guys set up your system.

I just dropped off the boat to get the trailer completely redone (painted, new bunks, LED lights, etc.) I'm supposed to let him know tomorrow morning what color I want the trailer. I am having him paint the tower red so I was thinking about either going with a red or white trailer. What do you guys think? If anyone is good with photoshop could you please throw a red tower on my boat and red/white trailer. Thanks.

I bought perfect pass and I'm having that installed as well. It already has the cruise system but I'm upgrading to wakeboard pro.

I'm also having the rear sundeck reapholstered. I'm gonna just have it done all white with just the corners red.

Rob, I got the boat for $12,425. I knew i wouldn't find another deal like that anywhere so I snatched it up. I bought the boat sight unseen from an auction so I was expecting the worst. When i saw the boat for the first time I was pleasantly surprised. The interior looks pretty good and the gelcoat looks even better. The engine was tested by the auction and evrything checked out okay. The boat was a repo and was even registered for 09.

Ill get some pics of my 01. I have a red tower and trailer. I also put a new ballast system in this winter and can help with that to. Check out planetnautique.com and do some searches for any questions you have there.

I would recommend powdercoating the tower, lots of flex and sun equals fading and chipping of red paint very quickly. I just had my tower powdercoated white, very happy with durability and look so far. great deal on a great boat! I wont say what i paid a year ago for my 98, but this hurts! enjoy!

HOLY SCHNIKIES! Wow thats an awesome price! Congrats.

Yeah, it was defnitely a good price... but the boat still needs quite a bit of work. After redoing the entire trailer, ballast, upholstery, tower, and a few things on the engine I will be into the boat around 17-18k. I'm still happy with that though. I will post more pics soon.

What is the stock cruise control like? I don't have anything on mine right now. I would love to get PP but I'm too tight right now. Would you consider selling me the old system or is it integrated in the dash? Just a thought.

My previous boat i had a red powdercoated tower, super easy to maintain and looked awesome. No fade at all just wax occaisonally. Awesome buy btw.

Rob, the stock cruise doesn't have the digital read. Other than that I have no idea what the difference is. When I get it all pulled out I will let you know what's there. All you should need is the servo cable from perfect pass which is like $35. I'm not sure if it even works because I havent even had the boat out yet, but you can have it if you want it. Just keep in touch.

I decided to go with the red tower and red trailer, so we will see how it comes out.

White trailer, easier to see when loading up late night.

White trailer = dirtier looking all the time imo, especially if you live in dusty or dirty areas. last one was white and i'll never do white again given the choice. Never saw the trailer at night in my lakes or delta so unless you got 5000 candlepower dock lights that won't work most times either.

Yeah, initially I was going to go with a white trailer, but I live out here in the desert and white trailers get trashed pretty quickly. Darker trailers tend to do better so i think red will look pretty good.

Black tower and black trailer. These will keep your resale high and be the most durable. I tend to dislike red towers, white towers, red trailers, white trailers. That's just one opinion. If you want to fancy up the trailer throw a red and white pinstripe on the black, you can always remove the pinstripe. Pinstripes are kind of a regional thing, here in California they tend to be avoided, I notice Brits Texas boat has the pinstripes.
