After reading the "Another New Ecoboost Thread" and the great talk about the engine, I bought my own 2012 F150 Ecoboost in February.

I am now experiencing the shudder/missfire problem that has apparently plagued many 2011 and 2012's models. It happens under load mostly in 6th gear. The best way to duplicate it is with the cruise set between 60-70 mph and on a slight incline, the truck will shudder like it's misfiring a cylinder. It's apparently due to condensation in the intercooler.

There is a computer update (TSB 12-2-10) for any truck built before that date in February that has been described as a band-aid for the issue. Ford is apparently working on a final solution.

Just thought I would get the word out to the people on this forum that have been talking up the ecoboost or debating this engine over the 5.0, 6.2, or another brand. The ecoboost is a great engine and it's an awesome truck but it does has this one issue that is unresolved as of right now. There are A LOT of frustrated owners. Hopefully Ford makes this right.

See the ford forum thread here and a petition thread here

Anyone on Wakeworld have the issue?

I have a 2010 with the 3v 4.6 and I am experiencing some shuttering, but it is at low speeds on a gradual grade. I talked to the dealer and they are going to perform a reflash on Monday, we'll see what happens. I have 47k on the odometer.

I have a 2011 Platinum EB with 11k miles I bought new in November and I have the same issues. What's frustrating is the miss from time to time where you stab into it and it falls on its face for a sec or two and then takes off.

I talked to the dealer and they wanted me to leave it for a couple days so I decided to wait.

Sounds like the transmission switching gears from 6th to 5th? I don't know if I'd drive on an incline, 60-70 mph in cruise control? It's probably searching too much? And under load/towing, I'd use the tow mode or whatever they have!

2012 with 14000 miles and no issue. I had an issue with an electronic module but ford took care of it quickly and replaced the module.

Was close to pulling the trigger on a '12 FX2 last week but decided to hold off for a while longer. Guess I'll keep my eyes/ears open for a fix

The tranny does not down shift on the scenario. I'm talking like slight slight incline 2-5 degrees. In fact the tranny RARELY downshifts from 6th unless you rarely hammer it. I find the truck relies much more on the turbos for extra pep. In fact, the truck will run in 6th gear at 35 mph. Probably a gas saving strategy.

Thats right. I have never seen my truck hunt for gears. In Tow/Haul mode it is pretty hard to get it to drop a gear unless you floor it.
