First time wakeboarding... I'm hooked. Even got up first attempt. Read alot of posts telling how to get up... it's much simpler than they say... so long as you don't plow forever. Trick is to immediately turn to put front foot forward and lean a little forward until you come up. Then just lean back and enjoy the ride. If the board feels "wishy washy" or like its dragging, then tell boat driver to speed up. Other posts do point out that having elbows around front foot knee makes it easier... they are right..

Next step... 180 flat.. (tried one... ya know... lake water tastes funny when you drink it through your eye balls)....

congrats. by 180 flat do u mean surface 180? i find thoose the easiest when i edge all the way out on my heelside edge, and then continue to edge even after u cant go any further. then when u feel the board to loosen up, kick it around.

thanks... I will give it a try... and yes... surface at first... I did get a little air over the wake... just not enough to spin it around... also was wondering how fast most people wakeboard. Other posts say 15mpg... I found that to slow as the board seemed heavy and not tracking straight. I'm around 165.. but 20 seemed better.... I typically ski at 25 - 27.

Kudos to you on your early success! I know all about the eyeball flavored water (see the post
"worst beating ever taken by a newbie"). The boat I am usually falling behind is about 20-23 mph, which feels like a good speed when I am in the right stance.

I have not successfully crossed the wake yet, but feel pretty confident that I will tomorrow. One step at a time I guess...

Keep us posted on your progress, SW!
