I am in the market for a wakeboardboat and have noticed that I can get a brand new x1 for almost the same price that people are asking for used or new x2 from 2005 and 2004. Is there any difference in quality or performance between these boats....or has mastercraft now just devalued the older x2...because the x1 is so cheap. also what are the improvements on the x1 over the old x2? thanks

i've been doing the same research but haven't done anything yet. not sure what you're finding price wise on the x-1, but the 06 one i wanted with options was about $45k. you should be able to find an 05 with relatively few hours and maybe some upgrades for less than that, not much but a little less. there was at least one nice one that went for around $42 at the beginning of the season. the hull is the same 04,05,06 2005 x-2 = newer tower, electronic throttle 2007 = new tower yet again i probably missed something but i'm sure someone will answer (Message edited by brucemac on August 15, 2006)

not that it matters but it seemed that the 2006 is 91 inches wide as to the x2 90 inches.....correct me if I am wrong

maybe because of the gas cap. not sure what could be doing that, maybe the tower. the beam inside should be the same. not sure about the 06, but 07 specs say 90in midship. (Message edited by brucemac on August 15, 2006)

If you equip them the same then the X1 will be more than the used 05 X2. I ended up paying for my X1 loaded up what I would have for a new 05 X2 loaded up. The only real difference is gel coat scheme and that you can get a base model X1 in the low $40K range where you couldn't get a dealer to order you a stripped down 05 X2 if you begged them to. You could have gotten an 05 X2 in the low $40K range last year with a LOT of haggling and a dealer who would order it for you. I had an 01 xstar (same boat as the former X2 and the new X1) before I bought my new X1.

I bought an 05 X-2 last September. It was a demo boat used by an HO exec (now with Ronix ) with 30 hrs on it. It was fully loaded (heater, shower, swivel racks, MCX, perfect pass, cover, dual axle trailer, etc -- all the goodies except tower speakers). I paid $46k and couldn't be happier! It's a fantastic boat. A new X-1 similarly equipped would have cost more. (Message edited by eaglejackson on August 16, 2006)

All depends on what gel coat style floats your boat. They both have a few ups and downs. I wish my X1 had the bling dash.... but I am not complaining for the price!

To me it's funny how everybody complains about the non-billet dash and how it is plastic now but guys.......Look at ALL other boats and tell me who has a billet dash??? The dash that MC uses in the X1 is the same material(plastic) dash that CC been using over the last 5 years that I know about, maybe more, and nobody said.....My dash sucks b/c it's plastic.

hey eagle, i'm guessing that's possibly one of the same people bsflower was kind enough to let me know about. she gave me the name and number of a guy here in the area who used to sell to all those guys who could possibly help me down the road do something similar. was that a pretty painless process? /edit your boat's beautiful btw (Message edited by brucemac on August 17, 2006)

not sure where you're at, but here's one for you: http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/8/358158.html?1155822650 could be a decent deal depending on hours and options.

Big Ed, you got the dates right, but are missing one other 205v. The first boat shippments in '03 were called "X Series." Then about 2 months later they changed it to the X2.

Yup but it is an 03'!! I guess they changed the name but if you were going to put that boat up for sale....you would state that it is an 03' X2 with X-series graphics.

Yea, I was just joking with you Ed. The only reason I know about it is because my friend got one and it said X-Series but then then sent him the X-2 sticker a few months later.

Bruce, Yeah, the guy I bought my X-2 from at C&M is a friend of bsflower's. I added tower speakers this spring. I need to take some pics and update my profile.
