That was cool, in the slow-mo you can see him barefoot with the free foot to get his balance back. Did anybody ever see the footage of his triple front attempts at Parks Double or Nothing contest a few years back. WBM had a bunch of stills of his attempts and he was getting back to his board, but he was so compressed that he didn't ride one out.

Dang...that was nuts. If that happened to me my left knee would have been torn to shreds (of course, I could never get around on a double...so I don't have to worry :-))

I remember sittig at home back in the day hoping that wakeboarding would show up on ESPN2. That was when Shapiro dominated the scene and Parks was a Grom.

Those telecasts usually mixed wakeboarding with some type of waterskiing.

"I just put on the death grip and held on" who else can say that?
I saw Murray do the speedball at pensacola a few years back, it happens so fast in real time its hard to follow.

Anyone know what year that was? Looked like about mid-nineties. I didn't know he was doing speedballs back then. Really incredible!

I would say (i.e. educated guess) it was from 1998. That event was one of the sea world double up events. DEFINITELY some classic riding, and that was a cool event because you'd have dudes like randall, gregg, thomas, and scott all riding at that event.

It was 98 because that was the last summer he was with HL. After the last Pro Tour comp in Sac, he switched to Obrien. The first year I remember seeing him land a Speedball was in early 97 (his comeback year after a season off to let an ankle injury heal up). But he was trying them as far back as 95 on his old directional HL pro model.

With all the style Murray has, he doesn't need to be throwing double inverts.
