I've been wondering if anyone has tried riding at night, with like tower lights and stuff. I notice they say not to do that on pages that advertise tower lights but if that's not what they are for why get them... >.>

Of course there's the danger of hitting nighttime fisherman, but you can always do a check of your run first.

We're going to be hitting up dale hollow on the 11th to 15th and it seemed like a place where it would be possible since it's big open and empty this time of year. We don't have lights so no go for us, but we wondered if anyone has looked into the legality and tried it before.

So...ever ran a set at night time XD

Illegal in most if not all states. Just having them on underway is also illegal I believe

I've done it and found depth perception kind of tough when your about to hit the wake. I rode with no lights though.

Screw the lights and just do a midnight ride with the moon.

I rode on the full moon last year.

Its illegal though. But very fun.

yeah, certainly illegal in most places. I took a night ride once on the White river in Indiana. We were basically just trying to leave and didn't want to idle back. We could have been so busted and depth perception BLOWS in the dark. Doing it at night with tower lights though seems like it would be sweet. Everything cool happens at night right XD

Or so I heard.

We do it with lights and have a blast. Water is so smooth, the boat feels like it's not even moving. We triple check the lake and make sure no other boats are out. Very illegal for sure, but quite the rush...

It is illegal in TN. The driver will be charged with reckless operation of a boat and an TWRA officer told me if a minor is riding it would be reckless endangerment.

sidenote - dale hollow will be sweet then, completely empty. Only problem are most restaurants on the lake are closed after this weekend. Where you launching out of?

Completely illegal.....that said, put glow sticks on the rider. It makes them easier to find in the dark after a fall.

I know someone very well who hosts surfing parties every full moon. Yep it is highly illegal and we figure as long as you are not being obnoxious on the lake, ie. disturbing the peace with your stereo, chances of seeing a ranger on our small lake are pretty low. I'm not sure I would want to ride at wakeboard speeds in that low of light though.

we're staying at star point resort (starpointresort.com) it's on 4490 Star Point Road,Byrdstown, TN

We've been there once before and it was pretty nice, and super empty after labor day.

Check this video out. It's just a sampler and half of it is wakeboarding, so keep watching. It's my friend John T. and I and we're riding in the dark about half way through the video. Four big lamps back and two forward:

I've done it with a full moon - wake is a bit hard to see, but the water was glass and it is a pretty awesome rush to carve out into the darkness.

Just be sure there are no boats around - we did it in a cove that you can only come in from one side.

When we went to Dale Hallow we were out at a restaurant about 15 miles from where we were staying. We were there after dark and thought it would be no big deal to get back. Anyway, it was so DARK out there that we almost could not get back. I mean we could not even tell land from water. We ended up following some bass boats doing about 60 mph a couple of different times until we could somewhat see.

i love night riding...hard to find place and boats that are setup to do it. Bellaqua used to do a night ride contest, and camp far west is a private lake...no one to bust you at night.

Tuneman-

Yeah that is me and Colin, he is going over me. That last shot he crashed and I was like "what the hell man, you never crash on Hoochies." He was like, "Dude you pulled the wake flat and then blasted me in the face, what did you expect." The picture says it all.

Jeremy,

I can give you a full size copy if you want it. Lemmeknow. The funny thing is that Colin New I was trying to spray him. The Shot we were trying to get was Colin Doing a Hoochie over my wake Slaysh spray. Like the Top Photo with better lighting.
