It's everywhere. About a year ago some fisherman on the TX Coast slipped while stepping off the dock and cut his leg a little, nothing big at all.

He also died from the infection from this flesh-eating bacteria.

I remember reading about it, but can't remember many details on who is most susceptible, etc.

One of my college buddies almost died from the stuff. Of course, he went surfing despite the signs saying the water had unsafe levels of bacteria due to a sewage plant overflow a few miles away.

I whitewater kayak in the nastiest crap you can ever imagine.

Last Tuesday, I went to a local river that was at flood stage for the first time in over 6 months. The entire watershed is pig farms....it was fairly nasty....no monster infections yet.

Just build up your immune system by getting in as many lakes and rivers as you can and drink lots of alcohol...you'll be alright.

Ronia...we will be on the lake all night...come on out.

No panic people, this bacteria and skin bug is easily curable if diagnosed early and is very unlikely to affect you if you dont have some other weakening condition like diabetes etc. as it says in the article...
