#1 Are you the type of person that cant say NO when passing by the local Garage sale?
#2 Do you hate throwing out things.
#3 If you can walk a straight path into your garage does it feel strange?
#4 Does the look of 20 pounds of crap stuffed into a 5 lb bag look good to you?
If yes to any of these questions then you might just have a Ghetto Garage

Post your Pic's saying "No shame in My game"
I will give a pize for the most Over stuffed Ghetto garage out there.

I countrd 3 bottles of gas (NOS) on the shelf and I would bet there is 1 or 2 in the car. So yes I would say it's fast too.
Old     (kmcginty)      Join Date: Sep 2005       03-14-2007, 12:34 PM Reply
Since the NOS was on the boat half of the garage, I just assumed it was in the boat to get the bigger riders out of the water
Old     (johnsvt)      Join Date: Dec 2006       03-14-2007, 1:08 PM Reply
Actually, I have the ghetto house! My wife forbid me from taking pictures of the rest. I have a total 6 NOS bottles stashed throughout the home. Hey, I have a Malibu I don't need no stinkin' NOS to get riders out of the water I just kept those bottles around when I was looking at the X-1,JK. The spoiler...have no idea if it works...the plate is outdated car goes quicker than 9's.

OK here ya go Grant. Please remember that this is just a 1 1/2 car garage. It's roughly 14X23. I had to make a small modification to the back wall since the hydraulic wakeplate is not factored in to the L.O.A. of the boat... I am Ghetto!

Jeff, you get my vote. The hole in the back wall sealed it for me. Well, not the hole. More the fact that it's off center and you look like you have added to it twice.
You have to find a way to make that Moomba dustier though.

Ok, I'm a little embarrassed to show these pics but in my defence my garage is usually spotless. I'm a remodel contractor and we just lost our spot for our dumpster and our place to store all of our tools and misc job material. Also, my garage used to be a carport. There is no foundation. The person I bought the place from added walls between the brick pillars. Now thats GHETTO! I will be rebuilding the garage next summer.Upload

Art,
Great deduction. I have cut the hole bigger twice ! Had to so I didn't have to be so damn precise when we put the boat back in the garage after being out at the lake all day.

Snyder,
The day we picked up our original Outback LS it was raining like crazy so I think I may have said those exact words just before grabbing the saw. I just wanted to get it tucked away safe and sound and out of all that rain... it's a boat not an umbrella!

Grant,
When are you going to be awarding the victor his spoils? Am I still in the running???

Ryan,
Believe me I tried... we ordered the boat with a swing-away tongue and I take the platform off. The garage is just too small!

Tom and Sinko,
Thanks for keeping me in the running I appriciate the support!

Aaron,
Unfortunately I've been there too. I was tryin to keep this on the down low as there may be a code violation involved but in an effort to keep my 1st place standing I guess I have to divulge everything.

When we bought our first boat I assesed my storage situation and quickly found that I needed to add a small addition to the front of the garage. I checked the measurements of the boat and trailer on the web and measured the garage, yep we need the addition. My garage had a 2 foot overhang in the front so I thought why not just extend that portion. So I did, making sure it was going to accommodate my new boat. I even added a wider garage door (10ft) than what was previously on it. I sided the extension to match what was on it and all looked great... until that fateful day I tried to push it back in and close the door in the rain. It was then I discovered the WAKEPLATE! So you know the rest of my story now... except for the fact that there is no footings under the front addition I made. Don't tell anyone!

Here is a pic of the front, sorry it's dark outside, and real ghetto owners don't have electric in their garages .

We personally avoided the whole ghetto garage thing. How you may ask...well, we own a garage that is bigger than the house that we live in. I guess the toys need more room than we do anyway.
Old     (soak_up_the_sun)      Join Date: Jun 2004       03-17-2007, 2:29 PM Reply
Here's ours. Boat and Suburban in the main garage, and the Bronco stuffed into the area that is supposed to be for lawnmowers and other assorted "gems". We can't open that garage door because all the drywall is standing between it and the Bronco.
We had to modify the rear wall of ours as well, but we did get it finished off. The bumpout in the basement is the "other side".
It'll be better when we can put the boat back in the dock. Soon, I hope!Upload

Lauri, I remember your thread about the basement bumpout -- it turned out nice.

Unfortunately, I think you will receive an automatic disqualification from this contest for having two aumotive vehicles in your garage. Just having one (the Suburban) proves you are way more organized than many of the entries already. Face it, some of these guys are pros.
Old     (soak_up_the_sun)      Join Date: Jun 2004       03-17-2007, 6:07 PM Reply
Don't hold the nascar decals against me, ok? The basement is my husbands "room". He'll finish it up someday.
Rich, you are probably right about the vehicles disqualifying me. You should see the rest of the basement! Now, if we were having a contest on that, I would win hands down

Maybe that's why I posted them?
They actually send me over the edge too, but what can I do? The rest of the house and basement are mine, heck, the boat is mine! Gotta let the guy have something, don't I?
Old     (grant_west)      Join Date: Jun 2005       03-17-2007, 7:11 PM Reply
Lauri: Thats a pretty good one: I like all the crap stuffed under the Bronco.
The weight room looks pretty good. Nascar included. You should not have included pic's of the weight room becaus is look pretty nice, LOL But I like how you can see threw the top of the wall in the weight room is the back side of the Ghetto garage so that was a good idea to included a pic of that.

Should the winner be picked for the most crap in the garage, Or the special mods to just fit in the garage Like the sanger and mobius. I like the Mod to the back of the garage like the blue Mobius has. But the garages with so much crap in them that its hard to tell there is a boat in there have a special place in my heart.

Yes, I agree, Jeff has the upper hand with his garage mod. That's kind of how ours started, but, at least it goes into another room, not the backyard.
Good job on that Jeff!
Grant, you see all the drywall on the side of the Bronco? Yeah, that's for finishing up, someday. I think it would be just great to have a ceiling!

Not nearly as good as the others, but at times my garage is just about as full as the others. It only looks half organized since I got all the boxes on shelves from a grocery store.

Ryan, it's a 75 with a 351 Windsor, fuel injected. It needs to have a little work done on it. My husband has had it longer than he has had me, and we've been married 24 years tomorrow.

Lauri, Thanks for the nod but I gotta give you guys props as well cuz that is pretty crazy. I'm glad we have a detached garage and my "modification" did not tie into my house! I would have had to actually hire some help or something to get that done. The wife would have never let me be ghetto if it touched the house. At least you guys can get one of your daily drivers in the garage with your boat. Both my truck and the wifes mini van are in the driveway all year long. We don't have a dock to even take the boat to in the summer. The wife really loves the boat in Jan and Feb when she has to scrape her windows to go to work. Like I said before... you do what you gotta do right!

Hey Brandon,
What are you doin to your Nauti that the windshield is off and it looks like the bow cusions are pulled out? If you want to compete with Lauri and I you're gonna need to step it up cuz that looks pretty organized to me.

Jeff....it's time for spring cleaning (see PN thread).

It might be organized, but if you look at all the boxes on both sides of the garage, they are full of crap that I can't part with, and probably never will use. There is no organization going on with the boxes, just a means of packing more stuff in a given space. You should see the attic above the garage.....
