As long as it's not tagged as a "game changer", more power to 'em. There new models are indeed sharp.

Well it couldn't be that they will be powered by Ford. That cat is already out the bag. Looks like a new hull design or a surf system.

I would put my money on a surf system too, but purely speculation.... They make the announcement on Thursday and then they will be in Portland at Evening with the Stars on Friday. Hopefully, they will have whatever that new release is there on Friday. That would be cool if we can be one of the first to see it. I am in the market for a new boat this year too!!!

What is that event like? It looks interesting, but don't want to drive to Oregon City from Vancouver if it's not going to be worthwhile. Fill me in?

Leave early. Traffic is nasty. we typically do a little tailgate accross the street. Stop by and introduce yourself. My name is tyler.
Lots of cool stuff. Good prices on boats and gear. Lots of free giveaways..

You're blind old man.jk. Look at the top of the wave starting near the prop and going back. It is impossible to tell what it is actually doing though.

As a previous Centurion owner, it looks okay. Not super impressive but better than most modified v hulls. If the wakeboard wake is equally impressive then it might be cool. I am not impressed but I am intrigued.

I am also not impressed and also intrigued. I am also bemused, speculative, and juxtapository. I am not amused, nor am I not not amused. Though the wake is impressive it's not super impressive which leaves me impressed but not super impressed. If the wakeboard wake is equally impressive then it might be, as a whole, more impressive, though at this point I am not impressed but I am intrigued.

Have you ridden behind an SA or SC yet? Two very impressive wakeboard wakes

Yeah not sure what some are seeing. Looks big, clean and impressive to me, but like all things, we need to see this in person. Pictures don't tell everything, but looks very impressive and have been hearing good things. There is no doubt the wakeboard wake on the SA and SC are very impressive.

Are those not similar to MC surf tabs which they are apparently improving upon?

This is the first time I have seen it too... My first thought was MC as well, but if you really look at it it is different. Look at how the ram is mounted to the plate. Coming from the opposite direction (back to the front). The normal wakeplate or trim tab the ram comes from front to back and only offers limited motion. Much more range of motion and can go all the way down. Like literally 90 degrees.... Also, for those that want to switch sides it offers that quickly.
From what I have heard it is much more effective and appears to be from pics and video. I suppose it is fair to say "improved upon" though.

You seem to be confused sir. Supras have traditionally had deep-V hulls (see 21v, 22v, 242). The SA and SC are part of a new generation of flatter bottom hulls for Supra, which allows them to be able to take crazy amounts of weight and get a huge, clean & consistent wake every time. They're much better for wakeboarding than the old deep-V hulls which would crumble with too much weight, as deep-V boats from most brands do

That wave is really short (distance from transom to end of pocket).

Good on supra for doing something a little different.

Wave looks great, it can't be too short there are two people riding it at the same time. Congrats to Supra, this will drive up there stock with a nice surf system. It looks well built and I like how it engages from under platform similar to NSS.

I'm relatively more impressed by this than I thought I would be. They thought outside the box to create a system that would not only throw a wave, but it has the adjust-ability to change the shape of the wave. Nicely done.

It is a nice innovation but it is in the same vein as surf gate and NSS as far as I can see. I am not a Malibu fan, but they were the first in this wave of tab enhancements and therefor they would be the game changer because of the first position.

I am glad that all the boat companies are on the surf bandwagon.

This is an entirely different concept physics wise than both of those systems. The only similarity is its a tab of some sort mounted to a ram. Malibu and nautique both delay wave convergence. This is much closer to the trim tabs Mc has been using for a few years. Just cut in a way that allows for different water flow at different angles.

What are the chances you can retro fit this into older Supras?

I think this system is all integrated into the new Vision system so I am not sure you can. I am sure the concept could be duplicated and maybe they will do a manual system you can upgrade to????
Old     (spencerwm)      Join Date: Feb 2009       11-21-2013, 12:04 PM Reply

The new video looks cool. I am interested to see how different this system is compared to what MasterCraft has quietly offered on the X-10. The system does look clean. I am guessing it had to be someone redesigned because of the Malibu Nautique battle.

I will agree and disagree with you. Yes, it is different physics wise. Yes, it is it is a refined trim tab. The Surf Gate is a tab that extends sideways and the NSS goes sideways excet the motion is directly out to the side.

Finally I agree that MC has used trim tabs on the sides similar to this before. This just reinforces my premise that it is not a game changer, just maybe a nice innovation.

just my .02 or maybe .01 worth

does this work on an opposite side deployment principle like the other systems??
Old     (mhibbing)      Join Date: Nov 2013       11-21-2013, 12:52 PM Reply
It has two different modes: skim and barrel. It delays and shapes water in both modes
Old     (tmill)      Join Date: May 2011       11-21-2013, 12:57 PM Reply
If does work with the opposite deployment but on the barrel setting it deploys the surf side tab down to 90* under the boat.

I can say after riding this sytem it realy is amazing and rides completely different than any of the other systems out there.
Old     (nailem)      Join Date: Apr 2011       11-21-2013, 1:10 PM Reply
Does this system also work at wakeboard speeds? Why doesn't Centurion's CAT system get more respect? It is much different than the other systems and seems like the only one that can be used at wakeboard speeds.
Old     (boardjnky4)      Join Date: Dec 2011       11-21-2013, 1:27 PM Reply
It doesn't get respect because Centurion doesn't advertise their boats for wakeboarding, even though they throw great wakes. They're trying to corner the surf market, which is not a bad plan.

so.. who doensn't have a "surf system" now? MB? I imagine that moomba will get this same system sooner than later.

sanger and epic do the tabs dont they? depending if you consider that an actual "surf system"

Wave looks pretty solid. It may not be a game changer in general but with the SA and the new SC I think this puts Supra right there with Mastercraft, malibu and nautique. I honestly the days of listing a boat for surfing are gone other than for the super hardcore surfing snobs. Seeing how those super hardcore surfing snobs probably make about about 1% of the potential buyers I think this is a good move by Supra. I think another thing these surf systems do is allow boats that have a flatter hull, that is better for all around wakeboarding, have a legitimate surf wave. The Malibu's, Nautique's and and now Supras.

I would 100% expect Skier's choice to add this as an option to the moomba line. There is absolutely no reason not to.

I am really liking what Skier's Choice is doing these days. They have great looking, very luxurious, well built boats that perform really well. If I was Skiers choice I would put every boat they make on a variation of the SA/SC hull including the Moombas. I would add a 20-21' SC/SA and a 23-24' SC/SA to the line. Drop the 24v/ssv and just have those 6 models. Then for moomba I would go with the Mojo and Mondo(please rename) and that is it. Again, those 2 boats should be on the same hull design as the SA/SC. At some point I may incorporate a true pickfork to the lineup as well. I still don't get why some manufacturers try and overthink/engineer the hull. Malibu figured out the best/first. Find a great performing hull and carry it over to every size and style of boat. That has to save costs on R&D costs.

I also have a 2013 Supra. Are we really going to be mad because our boat maker continues to push forward with new ideas ? Nope cant be if anything this should really help push Supra forward in my opinion. I'm glad to see they have a surf system and it looks like its going to be really solid system . Fact is my SA has great wakeboard wake and last time I checked I can still surf behind it . I'm pumped to be surfing behind the all black SC that will hopefully be running around Portland next summer .....
