Ok, first time out yesterday and my steering wheel is way stiff. It only turns the rudder, so why is it so hard to turn? Can you lubricate this system? it's a teleflex steering mechanism.

Your steering cable seized up over the winter, you need to replace it. I don't know how old your boat is, but they say it should br repaced every 7 years.

I would say it time to change it.

You don't want to try and add lubrication to it, it will just compound the stiff steering problem

Change the steering cable.

also your rudders may need to be regreased while you are at it. You may have zerks on the knuckles.
