I dont get it. Riding the horizontal waterfall. Like...why? Based on the interviews, seems like the only thing about it was that it really messed with how the board rode becaues of all the whirlpools and currents. Ya I guess its never been done before, but it just seems like an easy way to kill one of the best riders in the world for no gain. I'm all for Redbull's innovative events, but this...?

At first I thought they were going to ride through the first waterfall that seemed like it went into a large hole.

I can understand the idea of wanting to do something that has not been done before; the pursuit of the next new challenge.
I can completely understand the allure of riding in a place of such natural beauty and force, like they said "no place like this on earth."
I'm can completely understand why they would travel all the way there to experience such a unique, exotic and different terrain.
I'm having a hard time understanding why they got there and then felt compelled to build a contraption out of lumber and hammer it into aforementioned natural terrain just to have the same experience they could have at the projects, except with a crappier slider and ramp.
Sort of like a foodie traveling to France or Thailand to experience world class authentic cuisine and then heading straight to McDonalds after they get there.
Oh well. Party on.
