I made a little movie with the video from Sunday. Chandler finally landed it! I definitely need a new video camera. Going to look today so I can get some better quality video. This is also my first time using windows movie maker, I am liking that!

Those are huge! Those don't look very mexican to me tho, I'd call those true backrolls.

I know, that's what I thought too, but that's what Dave Brisco called it when he was teaching him. He said to look down toward his left knee. I can't really tell that much difference in the two. I know when he was trying them regular he was looking up and over his shoulder and not getting any rotation at all. All I know is he is flipping finally!lol He wants to try a ts front roll next. I am trying to get him to try a tantrum, but he scared of that one for some reason.

Donna, Tannys are a bit scarey at first because you lead with your head. Get him to do backflips on the tramp or into a pool that will crub the fear or leading with your head.

I agree with Andy, or if you can take him to a gymnastics club and do a little work on the floor. When I learned how to do a standing back tuck, tannys came easy. He is going so big on that back roll. Congrats!

He does them on the trampoline all the time and can do them with the handle, he does practice that. I think it's just going to take him actually trying one and seeing how the trick works. I like the way they teach it on LearnWake.com, but I think I am more into that site than he is! lol

Hey brian, I had it to different music but youtube deleted it for copyright reasons, lol. I guess I have a little to learn about adding music to your videos. I am not sure how to tell if something is copyrighted. I just used a cd I had, and I thought that would be fine. guess not!

Was the vid of his very first successful landing? If so, he is one of the coolest cats I've ever seen. When I land a new trick the first time I flip out behind the boat...or at least give a big ol' fist pump :-)

yes, the first one in he lands in the video is his first ever. You should have heard me!lol Thats why I had to add music...to drown out the embarrassing mom scream.lol He just smiled :-)

Great job! Didn't look "Mexican" to me either but Brisco would know.

Donna - Congratulations to your son! What a feeling when they have worked so hard and finally get it! I too have a similar experience this year. My daughter landed both the TS backroll and HS backroll since last season. This weekend she landed the HS frontroll. It seems to just click now that she is doing inverts so I am hopeful for Chandler too. I bet you will see a big progression in him now that he is building confidence! Way to go Chandler!

Here is Gi doing her HS backroll. This is her second HS backroll wake to wake as she started trying them one wake initially.

Again - Way to go Chandler!

Julie, that looked awesome! I wish we could get my daughter into wakeboarding, she is only 9 and a gymnast. I am sure she would be awesome, but we can't get her into it.
I agree with you that now that he has the confidence he will progress quickly. I can't wait to take him out again to see what he tries next. ( plus I got a new video camera yesterday so I can get some better video!)

Great job, your boy will be stoked and I know exactly how you felt when he finally landed it..awesome buzz!

Flight007 - Gi was 13 when she learned her first invert and is now 14.

Donna - I would try to slowly get your daughter out there and riding. Do you have any girls who ride close to her age to invite out on the boat? Both my girls were gymnasts and cheerleaders. I can honestly say I feel more comfortable with them on the water than being tossed in the air with unreliable kids waiting (or not) to catch them.

You will have so much fun this summer capturing Chandler with your new video camera! Can't wait to see his next invert.
