Yesterday got a little spring fever and took my boat down to the local lake just to see if she still ran and to check out my new Perfect Pass install. So I experimented with the ballast and # of passengers that I had to see what kind of Wakesurf I could produce with my 2003 supra 22 SS direct drive. I have the factory rear tank 400# plus another 440 in the rear trunk. My front center locker has a 660# sac. With all of these filled, and 3 teenage boys (500#) and one 150# sac all piled behind the driver seat (I was driving #195)) going about 10mph it looked like I was getting a decent enough wake to surf behind. I wonder if I add another 700# sac behind the driver seat, if that would improve it and still be safe to do? We have never surfed and want to try this summer.
My question to this board is what would be a good board to use for myself. 6' 195#'s that I can learn to ride on and for my teenagers not to get bored with. I am sure they will have no problem figuring out how to ride.) I am looking at the following two boards from overtons:
