old retro graphics or new graphics

Need some help with the look of the boat. When I bought the boat I kinda like the retro rainbow graphics (1985 Supra Sunsport), but I'm thinking about redoing them, here are some really rough ideas so far. What do you think? Keep'em or redo? Upload

any ideas to incorporate black with the dark blue boat? I have a black tower and thought maybe it would go better if I could add some hints of black, but the boat is pretty dark...

I'll be honest, I think the rainbow is pretty hot looking -- Of course if your going to have an old school boat, I think it should look old school :-)

The second one gets a second vote if you decide to get rid of the rainbow though.

Yeah i don't like the rainbow, i took mine off. Go with something more simple. Like the decal that covers where the old on used to be. Maybe throw a smaller supra decal towards the back like this

Oh and if your decals are like my 86 then that light blue wave at the back will not want to come off. Its like a thin hard plastic and the adhesive is crazy. When i wheeled my gelcoat and took the decals off i just left those since it was so hard to get off. The color will buff off the plastic though so its just a clear thing on there.

You know how 80s rainbow colors are not cool anymore. 90s tribal and chinese symbols are right behind them.

Keep the boat simple.

I think that the new block style lettering of the new supra's would look good on that older boat. Be nice and simple and still give it that older feel.

If you are going to change put on something with curves. The Supra has such nice curves from the top of the hull you want to stay with that theme. (IMO)

I agree with Jon. Flames and tribal crap and tribal flames and tribal water designs are not cool, unless you like them, then they are cool... whatever you want.

But i vote to keep it original. it looks awesome and it does not cost any time or money to leave it that way.

Marc, I did think about redoing the same logo. It looks good from a distance, but it is pretty tattered up close, especially around the text "supra", and the logo on the tail is almost gone. I like all the other ideas too, I've ran'em all through my head. But I guess why try to put a trendy graphic on a timeless boat. I'll stick with the rainbow one way or another...I'll post pics if I redo it.

Regarding the wake, its actually pretty good. Size is good, shape is so so. I've never had sacs in it yet, but it throws a decent enough wake to throw some inverts with just a couple of people in the boat. I'm hoping to add some weight this year.

I think I'll stick to the original or close to it. If you have any slightly modified original ideas, send'em.

I agree with Jon about the Chinese and Tribal graphics days being numbered.

I'd go with something more simple like MC's doin' with a smaller logo near the back. Kinda' like the white Entrust Moomba.

If you go with one of the graphics shown, I'll add another vote for the second logo.

Dan. I still like to slalom every now and again. What's funny is I'm really good on a slalom but I suck on the wakeboard. Maybe that's why I rarely slalom anymore. Tryin' to bring my suck factor down.

id go with the simple moomba wave in the back. no dragons or characters or fancy writing in my opinion.

or just weight the boat enough so the rainbow is underwater. problem solved.
