Any half decent rider knows better than to ride in a 4 foot deep lake.

really scott, how come alot of comps are in private lakes?????? never heard of the malibu open?? most the lake is actually about 7ft in the middle. wait a minute you ride the delta , that place is shallower than most thwe ski lake....

most private lakes are ski tournament lakes.

malibu open was at bell aqua, a private tournament lake. but the biggest complaint was that the wake was too small due to the lake being shallow.

and no, the delta is NOT shallower than most ski lakes. where scott rides is deeper than all tournament ski lakes.

I'm still curious why no takers for a pull?

Sorry but spent 25 years skiing in the Delta and most of the Delta furhter you get from the channel is within private lake depths and often shallower.

Maybe nobody is interested?

The Malibu Open was held at Bell Aqua because it's a skiing event...it just happened to include wakeboarding for a few years. Malibu Open is now a ski-only event...no more wake.

I've ridden at Bell Aqua, and the wake there suffers. We were kicking up dirt each time we went through one of the turns.

In the popular parts of the delta, the water depth isn't an issue. If you venture out into the boonies then yeah, it could be an issue then, but if you stay with Old River, Vics, etc etc you'll have deep enough water to set a solid wake.

Agreed.

4' is too shallow to ride in. I ride in a river and we cruise over the sections that are 5' or less, the wake is terrible.

WOW
A guy posts offering rides on a boat few have ever seen and all you can do is piss and moan about the wake on his private lake. JEEZUS
It beats the hell out of my private lake.
Rod, I'll split from work and take you up on the offer if you have time next week!

I would love to ride behind your boat. I think those boats look hot, and from what I've seen the wake looks really nice. But I live in Texas. If you ever want to rode trip it to San Antonio we got a nice lake out our backyard that is on avg. 15 ft deep. We have plenty of room.

Hey Rod,
I am from Portland. I travel to Sac on a regular basis. I will be there the week of the 25th of this month. I would love to ride behind your wakecraft. Im not a very experienced rider. But I am always looking for pointers and opportunities to get better. How far from Rancho Cordova are you?

Rod... How about a ride in the Delta. I'd love to take you up on a pull. I'd like to see if the Wakecraft lives up to its name.

sure the delta works great for me, i have a houseboat outside of stockton. im there almost ever weekend.

the wake may suffer out on the private site, but its actually not that bad. the lake is mostly 7ft deep in the middel and tapers up to prevent rollers coming back. its is mainly for slalom though.

scott if your too good to board in shalloow waters, dont tell me, show me... ill pull you at the delta .

here is a pic of the wake at the private lake..

I would rather wakeboard on a calm shallow lake that I had all to my self, than a rough choppy lake full of tubers and jetski's. Even if the wake was a little smaller. who cares...Still seems like fun to me. Especially on a brand new boat that I didn't have to pay for...

Gee what is it an inch smaller than in 10 feet,
who has actually measured this difference?
looks like plenty of wake

The last wake picture looks damn good to me. I will ride it whether its 4ft or 15ft. I have ridden in private lakes that are 3-4 ft deep and its not bad.

"Any half decent rider knows better than to ride in a 4 foot deep lake."

the wake might be a bit smaller in the shallower water, but it beats dealing with all the knuckleheads on the public lakes. i would not complain one bit if my private lake was 4 feet deep only. too many people "have" to have the biggest wake out there. if you are good, most any size wake is good enough.
Old     (scott_a)      Join Date: Dec 2002       06-07-2007, 10:33 AM Reply
No offense, but I have absolutely zero interest in riding behind your boat. I originally posted on your thread to give you a possible reason why "experienced" riders might not be be jumping at your offer. That's all.

Good luck with your boat.
Old     (fatsac)      Join Date: Jun 2004       06-07-2007, 11:22 AM Reply
With that attitude, a lot of peeps on here would have zero interest in riding with you, Scott. Unfortunate to see you're 25 and still act 15.
But it's great to see you're now speaking for "experienced" riders.

Andy,
The wake actually is way smaller at shallower depths. When we go over a shallow spot in the delta you can see a big difference in the wake more then i would say 5 or 6 inches.
Rod,
As I have stated befor I would love to ride behind your boat some time (ON THE DELTA) Just have to get healed up first.

If I did not live in IL I would ride with you on that lake. Looks great, thanks for the offer. I would ride anywhere it is smooth verse rough. What kind of tricks can you do when its rough even with a great wake? We ride on a river that is shallow and the wake suffers, but so what, we get good water and when the lakes are all blown out or messed up by wakes, we still can ride. Giving a guy s*** for offering a free ride on nice water is just wrong, and you guys should go off and be by yourselves, with your big wakes

fatsac- go ask any experienced rider if they'd be stoked to ride on a 4 foot deep lake. Not too many will be. And contrary to popular belief around here, experienced riders can be pretty picky as to what the wake is like.

By experienced, do you mean whinny little girls? Because that is what it sounds like. If I had any of your so called experienced riders on my boat, they would be getting a one way ticket to the dock. I can't stand complainers.

I know some good riders that would ride in a boat filled with garbage cans full of water just to be able to ride, for the love of the sport. If riders won’t ride unless they get perfect conditions, I wouldn’t have them in my boat, got no use for attitudes like that. Isn’t it all about being out on the water, enjoying what we love to do, away from work and some of the bulls*** that we have to deal with in life. Shouldn’t have to put up with it here, and with attitudes on the boat that’s for sure.

Great pic on the water, I’m drooling, 30 to 50 mph winds out here now.

watch this video of Don Mixon Jr. to see some shallow water, he eats it and stands up in knee deep water

Rod, you're living my dream...home on a private lake AND a houseboat on the delta. you must be living right.

I'm not too "experienced" or very good for that matter, but i'd ride on a 4 foot deep lake like that any day...

aw come on rod
of the 20 probably only 5 show up regularly...

the video is from waaaayyyyy back in the dark ages 1992 i think,
yeah too much flexing for me too... but being the WORLD RECORD OWNER for over 13 years in barefoot wake slalom does give him some reason to flex and pose though...gotta admit its fun to watch...and flourescent colors have gone out and come into style and gone out like bellbottoms and come back again and they will come back again its just fashion...and whats old will be new again someday

I would ride that lake any day!!! Sweet set up man. Love that lake and your boat. THe low water dosent effect the wake THAT much. The cove we ride in is 4-9ft. I havent notice too much of a difference. Thats because I could still do all my tricks of a I/O if I had too. Wish I live close to ya brother.
