I was just wondering what length rope everyone rides at and even the speeds. I know there are alot of factors but i'm your average rider just starting to land 3's and backroll's all that good stuff. I'm behind a 06 X-15 MC. My length is 60 ft at about 22mph... really i just want to know the length and speed for the most hang time so to say Thanks for the input...
Sorry is this is a duplicate thread..

60 feet seems pretty short, you will get more hang time with a longer line. Try going out to 65' and keep moving it out as you get adjusted to it. Some where between 70', 75' for most intermediate riders is about right depending on the boat.

60 is way to short! you could cut out 2' and clear the wake at 60' you will have trouble having enough time in the air to do any tricks riding that short. take it to 70' and work your way up, im not a good rider by any means and i ride at 75' and like 22-23mph. to me riding at 60 or 65 is cheating

I just moved up to 85 ft @ 22-23 mph and it was the best improvment that I have ever made while wakeboarding.

60' ropes are for skiers, i ride 70' at 21-22mph.

long line allows you to generate a ton of speed and not compermise body position. I ride at 26-26.5 at 85 feet, sometimes 87.5 feet.

75 or 80 depending on the day and normally 22.5 or 23.5.

22 mph at 70 feet, but the shorter line is because my TS is not yet as consistent as my HS and still needs some work.

23.5mph, 70'. My wake just seems to disappear past 70' in my DD Launch SS with about 1800lbs ballast. Behind the 24SSV, 75' seemed way too short. Definitely depends on your boat/weighting.

85 feet, and around 25-26 mph.

This past weekend riding behing tackleberry's SAN, I could have rode 90 feet at 25 mph.

Just playing around 80' 22mph but when I am concentrating on new tricks and want to be consistent on clearing the wake (especially toeside) I am at 70 or 75' speed stays pretty consistent 22 mph.

heber, I ride 70ft when rusty or learning new tricks. When I've been on the water and the rust is off 75 feels great, I notice a difference in air time from 70ft to 75ft. I also get excited and build alot of speed when I first make the transition.

Ok so here is my question.... I'm new to the sport first full season and I have an I/O. I have a sorta crapy adjustable rope for know and I think its at 60 or 65 feet because I best part of the wake is at that length. Should I go out to 75 feet even though I won't be hitting the best spot? With this length rope for know with that hinder my progress? Here is a picture of the rope longer and not hitting the best spot. Keep in mind I've only been out on a board about 10 times and cann't even go W2W YET! Two more times out with the short rope and I have it. Give me your in put...

Also I don't have a pole or tower this is just a back of the boat tow...don't know if that makes any difference.

Anyone?

No, I think you're at your correct length. You are riding off the back of the boat when these guys are all talking about length from the tower, which brings the rope in say 8-10 ft. Meaning if they went off the back they would be around 65 ft. They also have peakier wake more than likely, when yours will wash up more quickly farther back. Bring your rope in 5-10 ft, get comfortable clearing the wake for a day, then lengthen it back out. Just remember to cut consistent and all the way thru each time, and it will feel like you were still at the shorter length. Longer ropes make everything better, but you also have to keep the wake shape in mind.
