I need your help in making the best choice I can for a boat. It would be used mostly for wake boarding but wouldn't have to throw more than a novice wake. I live in Alberta and don't get to go out much. No one in the family is going to the X games. I would like to be able to surf too but don't want a bunch of sacs all over the floor. Something with built in ballasts sounds nice.

Are there V drives out there for under 20k that aren't beat to hell or worn out? Are older V drives reliable? Would I be better off forgetting the surfing and look for a DD that might not be as old or tired? But still a DD with a hull designed to throw a wake and ballasts.

Any specifics to look for or stay away from? How many hours on an engine before it starts to get scary?

Thanks much for the help.
