I am in need of any suggestions that might help with boat problem. I put the boat in the water today, turned the key and nothing happened. It made no noise and didn't even try and turn over. I checked the kill switch and it was on run and the battery showed it was ok. I had to pull it back up on the trailer and head home. Any ideas on what might be causing this, before I take it to the shop?
and yes it did have gas:-)

sounds like neutral safety switch. Has this ever happened before? there is a switch on the side of the trans that will keep the starter/solenoid from engaging. usually starts to act up and when the throttle is moved in and out of gear, it will eventually start. AFter a while, nothing will work and the switch has to be adjusted.

Just to check the simple stuff first: Do you have a dead man switch? The stupid red wire your supposed to attach to your arm in case you fall out of the boat. I never even consider using mine but my two year old was playing on the boat and took it. It took a good 30 minutes to figure out why it wouldn't start after that.

Make sure there is no corrosion on the battery terminal! I just had that happen to me.

if your battery is good, then chances are you may need a new starter, or atleast it rebuilt. when you turn the key, does it make a click? if so, then have someone else turn and hold the key in start position and then you hit the starter with a hammer, you don't have to be ginger but also don't break the thing off just give 'er a good wack. if your starter is caught up (usually due to a flat spot, rusty spot, bad wind, etc...) then hitting it should free it and it will start. if this happens, then either a) take your starter to a mechanic and have him rebuild it, chances are its rusted to hell on the inside b) buy a rebuilt starter for under $100 or c) buy a new starter for $200-$300.

but of course, first things first. make sure boat is indeed in neutral. make sure battery cables are securely on the terminals. make sure the battery terminals or cables arent rusted to hell. make sure master power switch is on (if you have it) but hopefully you tried all this obvious stuff already!
