I drive a 2008 Wakesetter VLX and am looking into getting a GoPro camera. Is there a way to set it up on the tower so it is well attached and swivels like the Malibu flocam they have out now?

If you're trying to film the rider from the boat, you'll want soemthing other than a gopro. it's for close up footage only. the footage it would take of a rider from the boat will be terrible

Thats good to know, I had no idea. So what would you recommend?

I use a Kodak Playsport for filming from the tower on my boat. You can zoom to get close footage and it films in 3 different hi def modes. Gopro has much better uses than line tracking.

i got a small hd canon camcorder last season that takes some pretty awesome hd footage from the boat. i would think that any hd camcorder would be a decent option for filming from the boat

So can you attach a camera or camcorder to a tower, or is it all handheld?

I also have an 08 Malibu VLX great boat! You will not be able to film quality footage with a GoPro at a rider 70 feet back. We use the GoPro when riding doubles or filming from a tube. I suggest getting an older model Canon HD camcorder such as an HG10 and looking into WakeJak's camera mount for the tower. When we film from the boat we usually have whoever isn't riding or one of the girls film from a tripod in the back.

I've used this mount:

On a Mastercraft tower the rope loops around a nylon (I think) sleve with rotates.
I clamp this on here and it follows the handle perfectly.

As stated before the GoPro is not ideal for recording from the boat. I use it to record my girlfriend wakeboarding, she learning and its clear enough that she can see her body position.
