I've noticed that some of the specific wake vests run smaller than universal ones. I'm about 5'9" 190, what size vest would I need? Asking because I'm normally a size large, but I tried on an Attack 10 Large and I could barely breathe. Looking to upgrade to a wakeboard specific vest, would I need an XL in most models?

keep in mind you'll get a lot of stretch when that vest gets wet... go for a nice snug fit when it's dry.

I agree with Rodeo, every comp jacket I've worn has been different, I barely fit in a large A10 myself at 185lbs but wear a medium in the Body glove transform? If it's bearable dry I'd give it a shot wet.
