Rubber backed carpet mat help

im looking for a thick heavy rubber backed carpet that i can cut and shape...i have a piece of rubber backed berber floor tile that material would work great..but my local carpet salesman says that its only sold as tiles..but im looking at it and saying.."im sure they cut this stuff to shape" so im sure it exists or maybe sold as somthing else...the reason i want rubber backed is because i want it to be heavy and used at a boat mat..it needs to be about 6ft wide x 10ft long..preferably in tan but im open to other colors

Most larger carpet stores should stock a good indoor/outdoor rubber backed carpet. Some stock it in 6' widths. Most can order the size you need in 6' or 12' widths in the color you want.

the rubber backed carpet im looking for has about a 1/8" of rubber on the bottom..does that sound like what your talking about?

Ryan, that is a good question. I've seen the carpet squares that you refer to, but have never seen it available in rolls. There must be a carpet expert on here that knows.

The commercial carpet squares you are talking about are not rated for outdoor or marine use. The glues that hold the carpet to the backing will break down under extended periods of moisture.
Go to your carpet store and ask for Beaulieu (Pronounced "Bull You") indoor/outdoor Vitality or Vigor styles with the Non Skid Marine rubber backing. These are 100% High UV Olefin, rated for marine use. They can be ordered in cut sizes 6' and 12' widths. They also come in a variety of colors including browns and tans.

Try Lowes. They have a decent marine ( rubber backed ) carpet.
