I am getting ready to install my boat lift for my 24SSV. The runners are about 12' long and the cradles are about 9' apart. So I have about 18" of length on the front and back of my cradle. I have been told I should mount the cradle so it is within two feet of the transom of the boat, but my concern is there will be about 12' of boat that is not supported in the front. I know most of the weight is in the back.

For those of you who are using lifts, does this sound correct? If not, do you have any suggestions?

put the rear ibeam in the middle of the engine compartment. This is what I did and she is working fine...

I don't have my boat yet, but I this is just a guess of having the rear ibeam installed 2' from the very back of the boat, not the back of the swim platform.

That sounds find to me, I have a 21" Moomba LSV and I have a lot of boat in the front that is not supported by anything and have done that for 3 years without a problem. I don't have my boat yet from winter storage but can get you pics in about a week if that would help

Another quick question for you guys. How high from the water level do you think the top of your tower is? I am guessing the boat sits in the water about 20" or so?

Here is a pic of my setup. Engine is pretty much centered over the rear I-beam.

the biggest thing that you have to worry about wih an nboard in this situation is the clearence from the bunks to the i beam. My lift uses 2x8's and if I only went in 2' from the transom the drive shaft woulda hit the i beam...

Also be sure to check the skegs and keel where your fron i beam will go.

oh, and my bunks are only 12 feet and my boat is 23' not an issue...
