I am looking at buying a 1996 Malibu Sunsetter LX and i was wondering if the wake was any good... can anyone help me out?

Yes, it will throw a great wake if weighted. I have a 97 VLX that has the same hull. I have the wedge plus around 2000 lbs of ballast and it throws a great wakeboarding and wakesurfing wake

I think Josh might be confused with the Sunscape? The sunsetter is a direct drive not a V-drive like his VLX. The Sunsetter LX is an open bow pass through version of the slalom boat. Wedged and weighted it can throw a wake but not like a VLX. Wakesurfing might be tough. Still a very good all around boat for beginning to intermediate boarders.

I think they share the same hull. My 02 Wakesetter is a DD and it has the same hull as the VLX. It's just not a V-drive. It's the SV23 hull for both. The LXI is the diamond version.
