Hi there I recently got into wakeboarding and I am going to purchase a board and binding package for me. I have narrowed the choices to these 2 set ups

1. Obrien Diesel 137 with Device Bindings

2. Hyperlite Motive 134 with 2004 model vario bindings

Also if you have any considerations in the 134-137 area that have similar prices to the set ups i posted let me know

thanks

I am 5'7 and weigh 125lbs
However this board must also be able to hold 180 lbs too as my dad wants to use it as well

The Diesel is the old Harris, pretty much the same as the GB Harris. It's three stage and finless, wouldn't necessarly call it a beginner board. I recently switched from the Harris to a Player and like my player a bit better.

The Motive would likely serve your purposes better. I've heard good things about the Motive. The Motive is a continous rocker too.

Dallas if you are interested in an 04 motive I have one for sale. It was the board that I started on, and I think it is a great starter board. Welcome to the sport, have fun on the water.

The Diesel is the old Harris WITH a center fin added so it is real stable - all of the good things about the shape + stability for beginners...

The Hyperlite Motive is a great board, I have one we use as our boat board. The 134 sounds like it would be perfect for you, but I'd maybe go with a little bit better binding than the Vario. I have a pair of 04 Vario's on our old boat board I got as leftovers from my dealer and nobody likes them. When I got our Motive this year to replace our old boat board I got a pair of '05 State bindings with it. In all honesty, the State is the cheapest Hyperlite boot I'd consider buying. The boots are more important than the board. Hyperlites lower line boots don't offer near the support that the States and other boots do (overlay material isn't as good).

As far as your dad and you using the same board, if he weighs 180 he should probaly be on at least a 138. Hope this helps

I'm 5'8", 155lbs and ride a 134 Motive. I also have a 128 Motive that I can ride fine, so I don't think the 134 will be a problem for your dad.

i'm 5'8" and weigh 140 and i ride a 135 CWB nirvana, i like smaller boards though, but my 135 suits me fine, it's all about preference man
