What is the perfect size wakeboarding boat and why

Just curious to know what people think.

There is no Right or Wrong answer to that question. It all depends on the buyer's needs.

Just kidding man, depends on where you use it, how many in your crew, what you like and more. We usually run a 20.5' boat or a 22' boat cause thats what we have.

I think for the best wake - 21-22 ft.
Family/ Big lakes - 23+
Small Garage/Small lake/Multi Sport - 20-21ft

One size doesn't fit all.

We ride on a fairly narrow river, and rarely have more than 3-4 people on the boat, so our V-210 is perfect for us.

Almost every boat on our river is 21" or less. There are a couple bigger, and they seem huge and out of place.

I think it's all about the beam. Gotta be 100" wide. Too cramped for anything less. Centurion Falcon at only 20' and 102" wide has the same room as my 22' 100".

This question might only be one step above "Who makes the best boat" but I'll reply.

I originally was set on a Malibu 21 foot VLX, because that was the largest interior of the 21 foot boats. I know because I took a measuring tape to the boat shows. I learned that going from the VLX to a 23 foot LSV was only a 4 to 5 thousand upgrade, so I waited and saved up the extra money. I have a wife and kids, and all of my friends have families. The large interior room was the main selling factor.

If interior space is a big concern but you don't want to pay the extra money for a Malibu, the Sangers are also huge on the inside.

There are usually at least 4 people on my boat, and we needed a lot of storage. Plenty of big lakes around here as well. For me the 24 SSV was perfect, but a 23 would work as well.

I'm stuck. I have lake house on a small NH lake, so my 21ft is fine, I now know that I can get the 24ft model, which would be perfect when I visit my friends on Winnipesauke (big lake). I wonder how out of place a 24ft boat would look on my small lake.

i think the wakesetter 247 would be perfect for your friends lake dan!

Dave did you like the pics? Wakecraft has finalized the production of their 24ft zr8. It is ready for may deliveries. It comes with a head, name wakeboard boat that does that!!

But seriously, Mastercraft, Chaparral, Sea Ray, and anyone who buys one of these., and bungee cords it to their SeaDoo.

MC had a v-drive w/ a mastercrapper. seriously though other than super lakes like powell why would you need a toilet on it? The last thing I would want to deal w/ is feces @ the end of a hot steamy day @ the lake.

I commend Dan's efforts to spread the gospel of wakecraft. Never give up brother!

hey this is a hijack but ive never heard of wakecraft until i saw a few of these post on here ,so i guess even bad publicity is good publicity ..

i googled the name and think this is interesting boat.at least worth a look at but being there not everywhere,is Wakecraft going to travel and give demos around some of the major wakescenes?

they should,i see a dealer in austin,maybe he should travel up to DFW and have a demo day or a demo weekend or a few days because if we cant see it,touch it,and ride behind it then it really isnt going to take off IMO..

to add to post ,i think the 20/21 foot boats with wider beams are the best as they are compact ,take less room to store,less weight to sink,and tow easier.they also are less expensive and work for core riders with average size crews.

Dan, nice looking boat and cute boy. WC is not my favorite; there are many items I think should be changed and those are beyond your control. I don't like the tower, it's too upright and looks out-of-place. I don't like the bimini for the tower. I don't like the speakers built into the tower, but I understand that it's probably practical. I don't like the logo on the side or how it is too large. I really don't like the sundeck that wraps over the edge. I don't like how the sundeck is so large and has a hump. It looks like it's difficult to get in and out to the platform. I don't like the integrated platform with the radius edges, it reminds me of an i/o. I don't like the round bow with no leg room. I think WC seems to make a decent boat with, from what I hear, good wakes. It doesn't fit my taste, but I'm sure many owners including you are very happy. IMO it needs a major re-design and if they went to a more conventional design, WC and you would have more success. Anyway, now I'm curious, do you have pics of the 24? And why would they jump from a 20'6" to a 24' instead of going to a 22'6"?

The bigger the better for me, If I could afford it right now I would go with a brand new LSV 247. I sat in one a while back and I feell in love with all that room. I don't board all that much and mosty surf so I usually6 can be found in a cove tanning on the delta pad on thye back of the boat. I love just being on the water and for me the Malibu LSV 247 is the ulitmate in wakboat luxury. Just my oppinion

16 foot mid 80's bayliner with an 85 force outboard.

21-22 feet is perfect for all of my needs...I'm not picky about what kind of boat it is, as long as I am on the water, I'm happy.

Sorry I do have two businesses to run and a family (LOL). Dave they went to the 24ft to reach the other end of the spectrum, Nick does the bayliner come with cement blocks for ballast or do you have to bring your own. Dave I never said wakecraft was for everyone. I have always said that the consumer needs to know that there are other options out there other then those who pay to be reviewed. Bill I believe the dealer in Austin does a lot of wakesurfing events. I will check and let you know. I am sure if you wanted to board behind him he would take you.

Bill WC zr6 with the pcm 409 loaded is around 65-70

Malibu4. You won't need paint, just your own gel design.

To answer Dan I think a 23-24 footer with a true 102 inch beam is the best size.

By the way why do some lakes, public or private, have size restrictions?

What's the deal with these guys boasting that having a pot on the boat is so "groundbreaking". I thought that was what the lake is for. I have never had one person (even the people that don't come regularly) needing to be taken back because they needed to take the Browns to the superbowl. Besides who would want to clean up after all your friend that drinks a case of beer, eats 6 bean burritos, 10 pickeled eggs, and gets the squirts and blows that thing up in 100 degree heat. Guess who will be cleaning it up? The proud owner of the 24 ft Wakecraft.

Jeremy it is a big selling point for the women and kids. My buddy has a 24ft sea ray with a head, I have never used it but his wife and child have a couple of times, that is why he got the ok to buy it.

Im married, and my wife uses the lake like everyone else. Kids use the lake also. I grew up on the lake, never needed a toilet. I don't think that a toilet on a "wakeboard" boat is ever going to be a selling point for 99.5% of buyers IMO.

It doesn't run on gasoline either. It runs on the toxic fumes that come from the head after someone goes in there and drops bombs.

But seriously, can you imagine the fun you could have if your boat had a commode? If one of my buddies went in there, that would be the time to throw a double up.....but then again imagine the mess. Doodoo all over your 80k boat.

If you fill the toilets holding tank up....no need for ballast!

wake77 is right. I can't imagine trying to use a head that small with my friends driving the boat. I imagine that it wouldn't be a pleasant experience and would probably end in a fight. I can imagine that it would be similar to tubing in a fiberglass box!

Dan, I told you before just to be straight up on this site. A little of the wrong knowledge can dig a big hole. Check your local building codes. Normally they require you to support the sidewalls when you get only half as deep as you are.

My sympathies to rod and Kevin who have done such a good job of presenting their brand in a positive way.

Guys Wakcraft purchased the 24ft mold from Katana and katana will sell wakecrafts in Canada. I told you this was a new endeavor for wakecraft, that would be why nothing was nailed down. I just thought you guys like to hear of things first.

Thanks for the pics Dan. You guys might have waited to see what he had to say before you hammered him ... I was thinking WC probably bought the molds or rights before Dan explained it. Looks good. A bit narrow for a 24', the cockpit looks really cramped. Looks a bit like a Tige or a Bu. Now that I look at the pics more, I think it's a Tige copy. Notice the contoured bow seats, the windshield and the overall shape of the boat. I like the new style tower and the blue/white boat and graphics better. I'm not sure why people would buy it for that price when they could get into a Sanger 237 or a Tige 24Ve. If they would just change over their ZR6 to this design and keep the price in the lower 40k range, they might have a boat that would impact the market.

Pete I am sorry to hear that. In Boston we wanted to talk to everyone and anyone. We talked to jet skiers, yacht owners, and the staff running the show. Our main objective to the show was to let people see and touch the boat and answer any questions they might have. I apologize again.

ROTFL. I wonder how many companies buy components from another company and then use that technology albeit putting thier own ingenuity into making it into a completely unique model. Didn't Malibu buy flight craft so they could manufacture them here under the malibu name. Isn't evryone who uses a pcm engine basicly the same boat. All v drives are the same, helll if it floats its a boat, people just put different names on them right? To answer the real questions. The finished wakecraft product will be uniquely wakecraft. Some may like it, some may not, that is why there are so many types of boats out there. Dave asked to see some pictures, I gave him what I had to give him an Idea. I would think that all of the people on here would appreciate the fact that in this economy there is some sign of growth. I apologize for stating that a head is standard, I should never use the word standard when it comes to Wakecraft, since they are for the most custom made. I have told you all before if you want an illuminum tower you can get one, If you don't want wakecraft on the side you do not have to get it. If you would rather make your four year old take a dump in the woods, you can do that to. I thought this site was all about seeing and guessing what the industry was comming out with next. Sorry for making that mistake.

Dan, the issue once again, and it may have not be intentional on your part, is that guys thought you were being deceptive about this boat and the origins. It would have been better for you if you had explained it up front instead of being called out on it. I still think Liquid copied a Tige 24V and I'm still wondering, why would someone buy a WC 24 for $65k when they could get a Sanger 237 or a Tige 24 or several other 23' boats with similar interior room for less?
