wetsuit

Looking to get a wetsuit for early spring and late fall riding. Decided on a full O'neill, probably a Guru. My decision is whether to get 3/2 or 4/3. Is there a big diff on warmth or flexibility?

Yes there is a big difference in warmth and thickness. the 4/3 is really the way to go if you have the extra $. They are a lot warmer and if you get an oneill i know the psyco 2 is really flexible and not unconformable at all. Overall the 4/3 is going to keep you warmer longer that means your going to be riding longer, which is the goal right?

Roger that Ben, just didnt want to give up alot of flexibility if the difference in warmth wasn't that substantial.

Dude 4/3 is thick. you really need to go try them on. I roll in a 3/2 all winter just fine down in H-town. I got my GF a 4/3 and it was too stiff for her, so we got her a 3/2.

if your in a real cold place go 4/3, if not 3/2. Also if its so cold that you need a 4/3, just go dry suit. Those things rock the shizl.

I ride in Arizona for most of the winter. I have both a wetsuit and a drysuit and use which ever based on how cold it is. My real problem is that my hands and feet get cold and I can't hang on the the handle after my hands go numb. Has anyone found a decent pair of gloves that you can ride in? I bought a pair of closed toe bindings so I think my feet will be fine this year. I was going to try the O'neill gloves, has anyone tried them?

Sam, super cheap and easy fix for the hands... Rubber gloves, not the kind your mom uses to wash dishes. But if you go to the hardware store and find some rubber gloves there they are pretty thick, insulated, and you actually have a good grip with them. Best of all your hands are warm!

just be sure to tuck them into your suit.

The CT is a good solution, my feet aren't really that cold when i ride b/c they are closed toe.

i have a 4/3 oneill, not sure which one, but i love it, the only place i notice a difference from my old 3/2 is being warmer, it doesnt restrict movement anymore then the 3/2. IMO its definantly worth the extra cash

I think that if you need a 4/3, I'd go with a drysuit instead. I much prefer a drysuit to a wetsuit in general. I go straight from trunks and a heater top (like the Jet Pilot F-22 Flight Jacket) to the drysuit and skip the wet suit, even though I have a long sleeve shorty and a full suit.

A 3/2 wetsuit has worked fine for me and I have been in 45-50 degree water with it.

Bill, where do you ride? the gooru isnt the warmest suit. its crazy flexible but not really so warm. its not 100% sealed by the fluid seam weld. If you are riding in the cold look at the psycho 1 and up. The psycho suits are amazingly warm and very flexible. the oneill heat is really warm too but not as flexible.

Sam, i have the oneill 3mm gloves. they are so warm and my hands dont really get wet, but i cant feel the handle. they are too thick and now i never use them. the 1.5mm psycho gloves are nice though. my favorite gloves ive used are these oneill diving gloves which are glideskin on the top but just thin suede on the palm. my hands got wet but it kept the wind off them. i was able to ride much longer because i could feel the handle.

I love the Guru gbs l/s spring. The entire thing is 2mm and it keeps me pretty warm.

i dont know what temperature your riding in. but where i used to ride the water would hit about 35. i wore the Tilos 7/6/5mm Titanium Semi-Dry suit

its a wet suit. not a dry suit. but it works wicked for wakeboarding. the knees and elbows are semi bent already. so flexibility is wicked

I ride in Iowa, so temps really drop off in late Sept and early Oct.

Bill then dont go with the gooru suit
go with a 4/3 psycho 1. very flexible and very warm

Bill, make sure its fits right. oneill has a good size chart, but remember smaller is better then to big other wise the wetsuit wont do anything

O'Neill Psycho 2 3/2 with O'Neill 1.5mm FLX gloves. You will be the envy of all your riding buddies!

I recommend the xcel infiniti 4/3. Ultra stretch and lifetime warranty on seams. It might as well be a dry suit, but it offers all of the flexibity you could ever need.

another vote for the 4/3 psycho 1. I love that thing! Ride in 30 degree air, 40 degree water and only thing that gets cold are your hands.
