I am going to be installing a new system in a Tige 24ve and wanted to know if anyone has used this sub and how it sounds. I want to place 2 in the driver's kickpanel. I just don't know about the infinite baffle thing, will it sound good? If anyone has had good luck with an infinite baffle sub let me know.

Another question

The boat is coming with a Clarion CMD4, I was also thinking of adding a clarion eq so I can change the level of the sub and tower speakers. I am not sure how it would work having the head unit and the eq. The tower will have pro audio hlcd's on it with mid range drivers so I want to be able to change the volume.

Thanks

Screw it and get a normal JL put it in a ported box.

Infinate baffle subs never sound as good as boxed subs.

i have the 10W1v2 and it's awesome. the 10W1's don't require a big box to sound great. car toys made a custom box that fits under one of my bow cusions. been pretty happy with it. currently only running about 80-watts @ 4 ohms, but am upgrading this weekend to about 240'ish at 4 ohms. should sound a little better. :-)

I just had a JL 10" sub installed on my Centurion under the dash without a box, i was surprised at how well it sounds. Would sound better in a custom box but i am happy with the current setup tho. With the JL 6 channel amp it will ROCK the boat.

Just got a new X-Star with the JL sub. It sounds good. I'm sure you can get better subs for a similar price, but question is how long they will last in the boat,

The JL marine sub is great if an infinite baffle is your only option. We use them frequently for infinite baffles. I wouldn't recommend this sub in a box.....sounds OK. Their regular subs are better for box applications.

Do you think the sub needs to be exposed, or will it sound ok if I put it in a box inside the storage area in front of the driver?
I was afraid that would muffle the sound too much, that is why I wanted to mount the sub on the driver's kickpanel.
