I've been riding a Hyperlite Motive 134cm for four years now and i 'm looking to upgrade to a newer board. I'm 5'5 147 pounds and I'm wondering if i should go up to a 136-138cm board? What can i expect out of the board if i go up a few cm (softer landings, more pop?.?.) I would also consider myself in the beginner stages. Here are the boards I'm thinking about getting, any recommendations is appreciated! The Motive was a good ride so I'm thinking maybe a Murray board would be smart since he designed the motive, maybe his newer boards ride similar?
The Ronix Manna, i thought about getting The One but that's probably way out of my league. And last but not least the Liquid Force Witness.
I would love to demo boards but our Scheels doesn't carry much of a stock and i don't have any board shop within two hours to go a demo stuff. I'm open to any recommendations!

there is a huge sale going on at evo gear but it ends today, idk if u have looked or not but just thought id throw that out there. boards are marked way down plus you can knock off a extra 25 percent with the code BBB its there site to there just trying to get ride of all the 2009 gear.. i dont work for them or know anyone that does so dont think i am trying to spam already had one guy blow a tampon on another forum because i said something about the sale lol

its the outlet section only, just open up wakeboards in one page and bindings in another. u can pretty much get alot of stuff for 315 and under and thats for board and bindings. but add them to the cart separate its cheaper that way than the package deals.. and i recommend the liquid force lyman and im sure alot more people will to.. never heard a complaint about it..

o and get anywere between a 137-140..im 160 and ride a 141..let me know if u have any questions about boards on there because there are a ton..

From one beginner to another....

I wanted to upgrade this year from the Hyperlite State that I started on. So I went to my local dealer's demo day. The first board I tried was the Lyman. I hated it. It was just too squirly for me. I felt like I was slipping and sliding all over the place. I settled down and got used to it, but in the end decided I just wasn't ready for a "pro model" board.

The GM of the dealership insisted I try one more board he thought I'd like based on my feedback. He pulled out a Ronix One. Completely different situation... I immediately loved it. The One felt 50% lighter than my State w/out feeling so loose. The side fins are a bit deeper and longer than many other boards so it tracks really well. And the boots.... oh the boots! I don't know if it was because of the lighter board, the ligher boots, or the fact that my feet were closer to the board (baseless system), but the whole setup was super responsive in the turns. It was like going from an SUV to Ferarri!

Oh yeah... and here's another vote for evogear. Great vendor and every week they have a different sale in the "outlet" section of the site.

It's a shame I missed this I'm struggling to find something that I wont want to replace right away and that is in my budget right now.

Hope something like this comes back up soon

I had the motive and I went to the 08-09 murray ( both years are the same shape) and its grippy but a good board to learn on. This years board is a 3 stage where as the motive and 08-09 murray ( i believe) were continuous. and the size of the board is up to you. I rode the 140 and am 5'11" and 180. Rode fine to me.
